The travel limits on the shift linkage at the transmission is adjustable. The nylon bushings on the pivot points may be worn too. Have a mechanic inspect the linkage for any abnormal wear on the bushings or the linkage itself. Renew the bushings before you try adjusting the linkage.

How do I get unstuck from park?

Vehicles have a safety system that won't allow gear selector to be moved out of park unless brake pedal is pushed ! This what Buick calls there's
Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control ! Depending on make of your vehicle it mite be called something else . But all vehicles have it.
The automatic transmission shift lock control system is a safety device that prevents an inadvertent shift out of PARK when the ignition is ON. The driver must press the brake pedal before moving the shift lever out of the PARK position. The system consists of the following components:
?€¢
The automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid

?€¢
The automatic transmission shift lock control switch

?€¢
The brake to shift relay

?€¢
The rear integration module (RIM)

With the ignition in the ON position, battery positive voltage is supplied to the brake to shift relay coil. When the RIM energizes the brake to shift relay, the brake to shift relay switch contacts close suppling battery voltage to the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The circuit continues through the normally closed switch to the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. The permanently grounded solenoid is energized. This locks the shift linkage in the PARK position. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the contacts in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch open. This causes the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid to release. This allows the shift lever to move from the PARK position.

Shifter is locked in park on a 2002 bravada that sayes on dash its in reverse

PRND321 Display
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the selected gear position as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The IPC - instrument panel cluster receives a serial data message from the ECM indicating the gear position. The PRND321 display blanks if:
?€¢
The ECM detects a malfunction in the transmission range switch circuit.

?€¢
The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the ECM. The automatic transmission shift lock control system is a safety device that prevents an inadvertent shift out of PARK when the engine is running. The driver must press the brake pedal before moving the shift lever out of the PARK position. The system consists of the following components:
?€¢
The automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid

?€¢
The automatic transmission shift lock control switch

With the ignition in the ON position, voltage is supplied to automatic transmission shift lock control switch. Voltage flows through the normally closed contacts of the automatic transmission shift lock control switch to the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. The automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid is permanently grounded. This energizes the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid causing the transmission shift lever to be physically locked in the PARK position. When the brake pedal is pressed the contacts in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch open, de-energizing the automatic transmission shift lock control solenoid. This allows the shift lever to be move out of the PARK position.
The transmission range (TR) switch is part of the park/neutral position (PNP) and backup lamp switch assembly, which is externally mounted on the transmission manual shaft. The TR switch contains four internal switches that indicate the transmission gear range selector lever position. The PCM supplies ignition voltage to each switch circuit. As the gear range selector lever is moved, the state of each switch may change, causing the circuit to open or close. An open circuit or switch indicates a high voltage signal. A closed circuit or switch indicates a low voltage signal. The PCM detects the selected gear range by deciphering the combination of the voltage signals. The PCM compares the actual voltage combination of the switch signals to a TR switch combination chart stored in memory.
You need a Tech2 scan tool to diagnose this problem ! possible range sensor !

Gear selector won't shift from park to reverse

Could be the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
That circuit would need to be tested.

Gear shift stick moves from Park to any of the other gears, but stays in Park. It's sort of loose, as if the stick shift got disengaged from whatever other components are down below.

It did, if it is calble controlled then the cable broke from either the gear selector under the dash or on the transmission . 3 places it breaks at 1 the gear selector under the dash or the center console, connection came out or broke 2. on the transmission gear selector area there is a bushing that it connects that breaks off, 3. inside the transmission, the prawl got loose (rare but happens)

2004 F-450 power stroke diesel, sometimes it won't turn over when you turn the key. It has a automatic transmision,if I shift it to drive then back to park,it will usually crank.Once it cranks and runs it...

It may be a fault with the gear selector ignition isolation switch on the side of the transmission. As a safety measure the vehicle cannot be started when the gear selector is in anything other than park (maybe neutral). If the linkage between the gear selector and the selector switch on the transmission is a bit slack or the switch on the transmission is faulty the ignition might be disabled as it assumes it is actually left in gear. Check the this selector switch and the shift linkage to it. I think the fault might be easy to correct with adjustment, clean up or exchange

Won;t shift to four wheel drive the light on the dash blinks

When this happens I would think you have an issue with your 4 wheel Drive that needs servicing. Most of the time it's the selector switch($400),See if a National Chain( transmission )has free or low cost evaluations.Good Luck.
