There is a label under the hood that shows its location, otherwise just find the vacuum line going into the valve cover. Thanks

SOURCE: fuel pump replacement on 2005 ford focus

Are you sure that you need to replace the pump? I drive a 54 plate mk2 1.6 zetec that wouldn't always start and I was told it was the fuel pump in the tank but because the fault was intermitant I didn't have it fitted and found out that the car didn't start because the fuel lift pump wasn't priming the system before starting. I found that there was a faulty connection on the relay for the pump that is in the compartment under the glove compartment.

SOURCE: changing water pump 2000 ford focus

Changing a water pump is pretty basic. Since the coolant system is a closed system you only need to be concerned with that system. For instance you since you have to mess around with it anyway you might as well change the thermostat and flush the coolant system. Make sure your radiator hoses are in good shape and that's about it.
If you have basic mechanical skills and tools you will have no problem replacing a water pump.

As far as information with the actual replacement there are a number of experts here including myself that could explain how to do it.
However no matter how good our explanations are it just can't compare to a good repair manual.
A repair manual for your car at Auto Zone would likely cost between $12 and $15. It is a great investment if you are going to keep your car for any length of time. When you sell, it shows the buyer you took the time to maintain and repair it right.
I personally like Haynes Manuals.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: How to Change a Fuel Pump in a 2001 Ford Crown

STEPS TO CHANGE FUEL PUMP

  1. Park the vehicle in a safe place and make sure there is enough room around the back of the vehicle for you to work and move tools around.
  2. Start the engine and let it idle while you relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse or relay from the fuse box. Wait a few seconds for the engine to stall, turn the ignition key off and replace the relay or fuse.
  3. Raise the back of your car using a floor jack and support it safely on jack stands.
  4. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe and the fuel pump connector located above the cross member underneath the vehicle.
  5. Disconnect the vapor tube from the tee connector on the right side of the car-passenger side-and the vapor line from the canister tube.
  6. Support the fuel tank with a jack and remove the nuts from the holding strap using a wrench or ratchet and socket. Move the strap away and lower the fuel tank. Discard the fuel tank mounting studs.
  7. Unplug the pressure transducer electrical connector located on the top rear corner of the fuel tank.
  8. Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange and remove the flange mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern.
  9. Lift the fuel pump assembly off the tank. Replace the new fuel pump in the assembly and install the assembly in the tank. Install the flange screws and torque to 89 inch lbs. (10Nm) using a crisscross pattern.
  10. Raise the fuel tank to its mounting position, install the strap using new mounting studs and torque the nuts to 26 foot lbs. (35 Nm).
  11. Connect the fuel pressure transducer electrical connector, vapor tube to the tee connector, vapor line to the canister tube, fuel tank filler pipe and fuel pump electrical connector.
  12. Lower the vehicle, start the engine and check for leaks.

I just changed the fuel pump on a 2001 ford focus.. the problem i have now is not enough fuel flow. the pump turns on. can start car with brake kleen.. then idles rough.. when given gas.. car suffocates.....

I may have read about a fuel pressure Regulator problem for that type of vehicle. I understand that there is a 10 year Warranty for the defective part. It would be worth calling a Dealer and asking if there is a Service Bulletin for your car. Have the Vin# available.

2001 ford focus jerks when gas applied while driving

Safely, take your car on a highway or street ( dry pavement ) with no cars or other persons around. Stop the car, proceed to approx. 20 Km/h. Then push the gas pedal down close to the floor, if the car bucks and chucks change the fuel filter and retest. If the problem is still present, I recommend the fuel pump. Have it checked first.

2001 ford focus fuel pump

Yes you do. Be careful of the plastic fuel supply line when you reinstall the assembly. The hose can kink, and you will not have fuel pressure.
