Starts a post and forgets engine in car, what do you have? we cant guess engines, EVER.
my only clue was:
"3-4 others are fine???? what does other mean,
5and 6< omg, yes?
3 and 4 dead
1, 2 good but are 5 and 6 good? gee.?
battery at 12.6vdc rested
engine cranks robustly, gee, battery is good ,huh.
scan it while cranking, bet not.(working blind?)
which engine?
2.4L or 4.0L??
the 2.4L is Neon/Compuse engine. DOHC.
2.4L
DOHC kinda..Non-Interference (Valves may hit if camshafts turn out of time)
if you own a 2.4L
we first do a cylinder leak down test.
found DOA.?
or risk making damage worse, (all DOHC we treat like this with kids gloves, SAVVY?)
what does no pulse mean???????????????
1: NOID lamp dead on 3 and 4
2: spark tips dry on 3 and 4.
3:scope shows, no pulse on low pin but is at 12v on all injector power pins?
key on all injector pins must be 12vdc. are they.?
4: don't click (heard) (stethoscope $5 tool)(
5:sonic injector tester shows no pulse.
6:magnetic injector tester tool shows no mag pulse.?
my shop does all 6
do tell.?
if #1 fails check wiring,,
check 12vd on both injector power pins
if wiring is ok check for ecu pin at ecu that drives injector 3 and 4
called the pNp pin
if dead ecu is toast. (if injector coils read good.. ohms)
now some DOHC classes for the peanut gallery?
DOHC engines are designed for 1 reason.
NOT cheaper SOHC)
to make the head breath more!, called high VE. heads.
and are expensive, (naturally aspirated N/A)
and then to run higher CR, (compression ratios)(not turbo's)
and one more thing, (not VVT)
they have special cams, that causes the
piston to chase the exhaust valve closed, real close.(read, too close)
and some the valves intake ingress on exhaust side (canted valve)
cam to cam interference.
this magic trick allows the intake valves to open and to suck in more fresh air, with zero lingering exhaust there. and valve overlap.... same reasons.
but , if the cam belt slips bam, it bends the valve. ( DOHC with no chains are risky)
exceptions? Mazda's 1.8L.
1994 is first dodge 2.4L
some are free running.
the correct words are not that,
but interference free.
that word means under all conditions
the pistons do not hit the valve.
nor will valves HIT VALVES !!!
see?
cam 1 cam 2 and crank spun independently
and no hitting. (in all ways)
not just piston ingress.
here is the real truth.
now the word games.!!!
"The 2.4 Liter (148 cu. in.) in-line four cylinder engine is a double over head camshaft with hydraulic lash adjusters and four valve per cylinder design. The engine is free-wheeling; meaning it has provisions for piston-to-valve clearance. However valve-to-valve interference can occur, if camshafts are rotated independently. "
so that means, if the 1 cog on one cam slips
(the real world is amazing place no?)
then it slips, and as the other cam moves it's valves to the slipped cam side, BAM.
i guess what the people need to learn is
"can my valves bend, with a bad belt."
keep in your minds belts can fail many ways,
(loose, cogs broken off, or shredding)
the question.
yes or no.
answer yes
and if you the builder time the 2 cams wrong
BAM.
YOU Can do it wrong and so can a bad belt.
what word games some want to play? , omg.
end 2.4L
the left valves sure can hit the right bank.
fact.

Cud b voltage issue. Unplug them and clean contacts. Also u cud unplug computr and clean pins . Older cars have corrosion
x2,ditto
