100% serpentine belt, don't do what I did and have a "she'll be right" attitude towards the noise and end up stuck on the side of the road and fixing it in the rain.. Go get her fixed immediately, it could last 6 months but for peace of mind, fix it asap !!
I learnt the hard way... Never again.. lol :-(

Also the battery dash light coming on and off is because of the belt slipping, therefore the alternator is not getting the rotationsgiving the battery it's usual charge so you could also find urself stuck with a flat battery... Also like myself!

Serpentine belt is getting old and hard and the cold weather was causing it to slip
check belt condition ( small cracks across the grooves = scrap and get a new one) and check tension

Testimonial: "Thank you Bill for the help full solution , I will now be able to replace the belt and the belt tension er as a first step Thanks a lot"

06 hummer h3 making loud. High pitch squeling

If the squealing is coming from under the hood while the engine in running then it could be a number of things such as an idler bearing, water pump bearing, or possibly an air conditioner or alternator bearing. Other possibilities are belts that are worn or have gotten wed from a bad water pump or have loosened up because of a bad belt tensioner. Take a long bar and touch each area that seems to be making the noise. If you can feel the vibration or hear the squeal when you touch the area, then you found your noise.

Makes squealing noise

The squeal would be the alternator slipping on the belt. I would think either the newly installed belt is not the correct length, or the belt tensioner is no longer doing its job properly.

Serpentine belt pulley is making a loud noise, the one at the altenator.

If it is a squealing sound when you start up or water splashes in that area you need to adjust the tension or replace the belt. If the noise is actually coming from the pulley it may be the bearings on that alternator being bad.

While I was driving I heard a loud squealing noise then it was hard to turn the steering wheel and the battery died while I was driving. What might be causing this?

Water pump frozed and took the belt out lost alternator lost power steering. youll have to two it for repair. hopefully it was just a belt.

Makes a loud squealing noise when i start it?

CHECK THE ALTERNATOR BELT IS TIGHT AND SERVICEABLE . THE EXTRA LOAD ON THE ALTERNATOR WHEN YOU START THE CAR IS CAUSING THE BELT TO SLIP.

99 Altima with 190k miles warbling noise

It sounds like your water pump is going it usually vibrates throughout everything if it was your alternator it would show signs with your power the easiest way would to take your belt off remembering the belt route and spin the alternator pulley and the water pump pulley to see if they spin freely without noise

Car makes a squeeling / skweaking noise

It is either your serpentine or another belt such as an alternator belt causing the squeak.

This can be resolved by either replacing the belt or making sure the tension is correct.

If it is a serpentine then replacing it will be necescary if it is alternator belt there are ways to tighten it.

Belt dressing is another temp fix for the squeal. the belts become glazed over time and will squeak and chatter spray some belt dressing on it and the squeak will go away for a while.

How loud is the squeak? 1-10

Loud squealing noise

The noise is most likely the serpentine belt. Check it's condition and that of the belt tensioner. It sounds like the belt is slipping, causing the squealing noise u describe. As the belt warms up, it's getting a better 'grip' and the noise stops. Turning on the heat also turns on the a/c in newer cars, this added drag on the belt (one more component to turn, the a/c compressor) would explain why it happens when u turn on the heat. Is the belt original? If yes, it's time to change it, and check the belt tensioner to make sure it's doing it's job of keeping the belt snug on all the pulleys. Let me know how u make out.
