Hi All-
My Blazer starts just fine, but after idling for about 5 minutes the oil pressure (which starts off around 35) eventually makes its way down to 0. If I drive immediately it happens in under 2 minutes. Any thought on why this would be? This happened before and after I changed the oil.
I should also add, its the 2.5L engine, there has been major power loss/ stalls going up hills, and Ive never driven it over 45 mph.I should also add, its the 2.5L engine, there has been major power loss/ stalls going up hills, and Ive never driven it over 45 mph.

check that the oil level is not over the mark as this causes foaming of the oil and loss of pressure. At 80km/hr you will be doing around 3 grand and that will be enough to whip the excess oil into froth.. Too much oil is worse than too little oil.
Oil pressure always changes with rpm. At idle you should have around 10 psi, and it should max out at high rpm around 50 psi or so. You not only can't have as much pressure at idle, but you don't need it either.
Sounds to me like your oil pump is bad, not pumping sufficient oil at low RPM's. If the gauge shows pressure when driving or revved, the sending unit is working
I have a 99 blazer and ever since I have owned it, it reads lower in pressure when idling, but will go up too 40 while driving. This is normal for the vehicle. If the pressure gets real low, and stays low, it means its time for an oil change.
As long as the pressure goes up when you give it gas, it is fine.
Most likely it's the oil sending sensor, located beside the oil filter. You can change it, just be sure to have old newspaper or rags laying around the area where you will work, because a little oil will be lost. The part isn't expensive, for mine on a Ford Expedition was around $35 and took 5 minutes to change. Just un-plug the connector going to the sensor, and a larger wrench will be needed, large (7/8, 15/16) somewhere in that range of size.
your oil pump does that on purpose - more noticeable with a dented oilpan as pressure is slightly increased. nothing to do until it goes (if it goes) unless you want to throw parts at your car anyways.
