1994 Audi Cabriolet. Central locking pump

Just changed my dead central locking pump with one I got from Ebay. Everything working fine but the car will not start and showing immobilizer fault on dash. Found on some Audi forums cabriolet pump does not have a code? so assume my Ebay one came from some other Audi 80 which is coded? Now cant get car to start or access diagnostics with either pump? Anybody any come across this problem before?? Wonder if I better trying to get old of a genuine Cabriolet pump anyone know the part No for these? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Peter

SOURCE: locating central locking pump

I can confirm that in my 94 model the pump is also located in the trunk, to the right of the spare wheel well, under a plastic cover.

If you are having trouble w/ the top. Check to make sure the central locking system is working properly. Also as on my Cabri, try locking the trunk 1st. Hope this helps

Tonneau Cover won't open

Check your fuse box....unless you hear it trying to close or open, function whatever... but im sure you have a blown fuse. especially if they stoped working at the same time.

I have a 1998 Audi A4. My central lock stopped working

The humming is the central lock vacuum pump running..You either have a leak in one of the lines, or one of the hoses has popped off

Central locking and windows unusable due to leak

I've been dealing with similar problems (windows and sunroof dead, power locks iffy, dome light doesn't work, random chiming) and best I can figure is:

a) get rid of the leak and any standing water
b) depending on the year of your car check the relays and/or central locking module

I spent a lot of time checking the ECU and door interior parts and those were both dead ends. I also thought the standing water on the floor might be shorting actual wiring, but now I've eliminated that as well. Although my alarm hasn't been going off, the "door chime" has and the instrument cluster sometimes shows 3 or 4 doors open while driving. VAG-COM showed some alarm trip type faults as well. Central locking is my next move when I've got some time.

Locating central locking pump

I think it is very likely that it sits at the same place as in my car, which is a 92' model. Anyway, in my car it is located beneath a round cover under the carpet in the right front of the trunk.
Hope this was of any help:)

Remote central locking not working on my audi A6 2.4 automatic petrol left hand drive but when doing it manually with key only drivers door opens and all indecaters flash quicker than usual

As far as the central locking issue, it sounds like you need to replace your central locking pump. You can buy them online.
I have a 95 A6 and I am in the process of looking for a new central locking pump.
The part number may be 4A0 862 257 J, that is what it is for me.
There are directions online as to how to change this yourself once you get the part. If you buy from the dealership the part is $500.
Be thankful your child locks weren't engaged. We haven't been able to open our back doors since the pump went out.
