That little pin hole by the gear lever you've probably noticed but never knew what it did will get the gears to move. put a pin inside the hole and it will release the gears

SOURCE: Won't run

There are several no cost things you can look at for starting the engine;

) Is an anti-thief system killing the system ?
) Try giving the solenoid on the starter a few sharp hits. Sometime the solenoid sticks. If this works you would still have to replace the starter. It will only work a few times.
) neutral safety switch - This switch on the transmission prevents starting in gear. Try PARK or NEUTRAL.
) starter relay - this is the relay to transfer power to the starter. When you turn the ignition it clicks on to transfer power to the starter. I think it may be located under the hood.
) fusible link - This is essentially a fuse that limits the maximum current to protect the circuit. Believe to be under the hood. They can get corroded or burn out. Your lights will work but the starter will not.

I believe it will be one of above but of course as suggested you can take it to a repair shop.

I own a 2000 Nissan Frontier 4X4. I have not had occasion to use the 4 wheel drive. Can you tell me how to put the truck in 4 wheel drive and take it out? Do not have a manual. Thanks!

Assuming yours is the 2 gear stick layout this is roughly how it works.
ONLY CHANGE BETWEEN 2 AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE WHEN STOPPED, IN NEUTRAL AND WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON!!
The smaller gear shift should be to the left of the normal gearstick.
It should be in the fully forward position. This means it is in 2 wheel drive, high ratio, for normal road driving. (Rear wheels).
Pulling the stick back ONE notch engages 4 wheel drive, high ratio. Used for snowy, icy, slippery conditions as well as light off roading. (Keep the speed under 50mph).
Pushing down and back another notch engages neutral in the transfer box. This means ALL drive is DISCONNECTED even if you use the normal gearbox.
**Try to avoid this one**!!
Pulling the stick back the last notch engages 4 wheel drive, LOW ratio. This is for the more extreme off roading conditions such as VERY steep hills. Not usually used in normal day to day driving.
The two fully forward positions, (2High and 4High), will be the ones used the most.

Why would my 99 Nissan frontier transmission stop pulling when I cut off the over drive off

Your transmission is obviously failing, but it may be something as simple as low fluid level or the need for a standard transmission service. Has the fluid and filter been changed in the past 50,000 miles? If not, START THERE. It may be too late to save the transmission but there is always a chance you may.

2004 nissan frontier intermittent starting problem with shift lock

Shift lock is just a safety feature, so you have your foot on the brake, when you put it in gear. It has nothing to do with starting the car. Intermittent starting problems can be a few different things. Ignition switch, park/neutral safety switch, wiring, and corrosion. If it clicks when trying to start, it cold be loose/corroded battery cables or a bad battery.

Starting frontier after manually shifting automatic gear shifter without key?

The shifter lever must be in either neutral or drive. The Frontier has an unlock mechanism to shift the lever if is locked.

Honda Accord 1993 EX is stuck on Park. It doesn't budge if I start the car and it doesn't budge if i try to shift to N,P,D4,D3

Use your ignition key and stick it straight down into the slot marked shift lock, next to the shifter. That will allow you to shift it into neutral. Leave it there, remove the key from that slot and start the car. You will then be able to shift into drive, from neutral, and be on your way.
