Diagnostic Starting Point - Roof (Folding Top)
Begin the system diagnosis with the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information. The Vehicle System Check will provide the following information:
?€¢
The identification of the control modules which commands the system

?€¢
The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit

?€¢
The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status

The use of Vehicle System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
Have vehicle scanned for DTC'S . The power roof has a number of DTC'S that can be set ,could make diagnosing easier !
DTC B1010 DTC B1296 DTC B1307 DTC B1325 DTC B1335 DTC B1345 DTC B1395 DTC B316A DTC B3602 DTC B3669 DTC B366A DTC B366B DTC B366C DTC B366D DTC B366E DTC B3674 DTC B3675 DTC B367A DTC B367B DTC B367F DTC B3680 DTC B3683 DTC B3685
There are a number of sensors for your convertible top !
DTC B1010 08: System Sensors Data Mismatch signal invalid
DTC B1010 08 sets when the folding top control (FTC) module detects a switch is not in the proper state when compared to other switches. The conditions that cause DTC B1010 08 to set may also set other Folding Top DTCs. The position and direction of the folding top when the fault occurs will determine whether DTC B1010 08 will set or another Folding Top DTC will set. If any Folding Top DTCs between DTC B1296-DTC B3685 are set, diagnose those DTCs first. After diagnosing any other Folding Top DTCs, clear DTCs and operate the Folding Top to see if DTC B1010 08 resets before diagnosing it.
DTC B1296 01: Movable Roof Header Unlatched Sensor Circuit short to battery

DTC B1296 06: Movable Roof Header Unlatched Sensor Circuit short to ground or open

DTC B1296 58: Movable Roof Header Unlatched Sensor Circuit incorrect reaction after event

DTC B1296 59: Movable Roof Header Unlatched Sensor Circuit circuit/component protection time out
You best bet is to take your vehicle to a ASE certified repair shop or to a GM dealer .

2004 w209 CLK Cabrio. Conv. top always "in operation"

First, inspect the top to make sure there is no damage or any other issues causing the top to not properly seal. If the top appears to be working correctly, check the fuse box to make sure all fuses are in working order. If any of the fuses related to the convertible top are not working, replace them. Check the wiring harnesses to make sure they are connected properly and there are no issues

But your best bet is to take your car to a professional specialist to diagnose the issue and make the repairs. It could be a damaged mechanism, that needs to be repaired or replaced, or a wiring issue that needs to be diagnosed and repaired. It is best to have a technician properly diagnose the issue so that you can get the repair done right.

Chrysler Sebring 2008 convertible top malfunction message

As long as the trunk is open, It won't work. The top has it's own computer. Have the codes read. Takes a scanner. These have like 20 sensors and switches for the top and trunk. You can try to close the latch on the trunk with a screwdriver to get it to work. Another thing is there is a cover that pulls out . This has to be pulled out and latched in place. This will keep it from working also.

The convertible top on my 2003 Sebring isn't working properly. The motor is whirring loudly; the top will not come up by itself and it drops quickly when putting it down. Can you tell me what the problem...

Locate the top mtr and find the fluid resivor on the top. most top mtrs use ATF fluid. if that makes top work then fluid is leaking from mtr. or lines.inspect all parts for excessive leaking

Convertible Top Not Working Properly

This is not a low fluid problem, this a contorl motor problem. I had a 1989 Z24 conv. and the same thing happened. I replaced the motor and the top worked just fine.

Resetting my convertible to work after I used the manual release to put the top up

After a manual raise or lower of the convertible top using the red latch behind rear seat....Gap in cover near window right ? Unhitch the cover on the passenger side rear near gas tank and inside you'll see the convertible motor. The rear level disengages the motor so you can move the top manually. Snap the motor back into place and then push the top control to fully close the top eliminating the gap. Then you'll have to find out why it stopped in the first place.
