Shifting problems My car is a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon, Automatic, 2.0L 4 Cylinder I've had the car two years I don't know what's related and what isn't so here is the story. Bought car, (cruise control did not work) but everything else seemed fine, engine light came on code read Vehicle Speed Sensor so I bought an input and an out transmission speed sensor and had them installed, Motor blew 2 heads had motor replaced with an almost new motor. Cruise control now works, three days later car would not come out of park shifter moved but car stayed in park felt like shifting cable let loose, I called a backyard mechanic friend and he moved the shifter hard and it went into drive said probably buddy who changed motor forgot to unhook cable and stretched it (made sense to me) it did this everytime car was put into park had to yank on the shifter to get it to shift so I started parking her in neutral and it never messed up, after 3 weeks my new shift cable came in so I went to show my mechanic what car was doing it wouldn't do it worked fine, told him I'd call him next time it messed up this is a year and a half later hasn't messed up like that again! I had already bought the cable so I decided to have it installed anyways even though problem seemed fixed went to a shop they told me nothing is wrong with my cable..... Approx 6 months ago put car into drive and started driving the car reved out (I call it) motor got really loud and RPM gage went to 4K and car jerked really bad and made a really loud snap noise so I pulled over and roughley shift car into park and back into drive and drove this fixed the issue for that drive anyways.... my car one day over heated to red line in a 5 minute drive in the winter my mechanic said must be an air lock so he drained my fluid and replaced ect, next day car wouldn't start, blew starter, replaced that, next day driving car and in a 5 minute drive it overheated to red line took car to shop he said gage is reading wrong car is barely even warm so I decided to take the car home and worry about this issue pay day well the next day car wouldn't start, blew alternator, at this time my mechanic looked over car more closley turns out I had a bad ground so he put on new alternator and new ground, this was a month ago and no more issues with overheating or not starting. However I still have this issue (copy and paste) "put car into drive and started driving the car reved out (I call it) motor got really loud and RPM gage went to 4K and car jerked really bad and made a really loud snap noise so I pulled over and roughley shift car into park and back into drive and drove this fixed the issue for that drive anyways...." After having ground put on and shifting issue still there I took my car directly to Hyundai they ran all their computer tests and transmission tests and took car for a test drive car worked fine and only code that came up was Vehicle Speed Sensor. So here is where I stand first question how many speed sensors does my car have is a transmission input/output speed sensor different then a vehicle speed sensor? I looked on parts sites and only speed sensors I find are ABS speed sensor and Vehicle Speed Transmisson Sensor, so maybe sensors I bought are no good but they were bought new or maybe the connector for the sensors are bad? I don't know any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: 2000 Hyundai Elantra--No Cruise Control, etc.

there are alot of harnesses to unplug.they missed a few by the sounds of it.
the cruise control is a cylinder that is vacuum operated and connected to the throttle cable.
check the vacuum lines and the wiring and make sure no wiring has been damaged installing the new engine.look for a plug that has clean looking pins,as the plug on an 8 year old car is clean on the inside.

Vehicle Speed Sensor. Without a signal from it, you will have no speedo or odometer functions.

SOURCE: I recently had my transmission

The problem with the gauges may be related to the shifting, check your Speed Sensor.

SOURCE: 2001 HYANDAI ELENTRA car was stuck in 3rd gear changed turn signal fuse was blown changed fuse work fine for a short time then then fuse blowed again then trans stop shiftinh again i changed the outpu

I would suspect you have a short in the wiring to the transmission or the shift solenoid inside the ****** is shorted. Only way to know for sure is to get the wiring diagrams and trace down and inspect all the wiring that the fuse powers.

03 Elantra hard shifting automatic transmission scary shifting only when it's cold Same thing happened last year with this this type of weather (cold)

There are Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) on many of the Elantras specifically related to hard or abrupt shifting when the transmission or weather is cold. You may need to take it to a Hyundai dealer to ensure the TSBs for the TCM related to shifting have been applied to your particular vehicle.

What do i do about my tansmision not shifting in my 2000 hyundai tiburon?

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

Hello I have a Hyundai tiburon 2003 v6 GT. I don't

the rpm's can vary from car to car , it all depends on the gearing in the transmission and ratios, 4.0 does seem high for a V6 the easiest thing would to be have your transmission serviced , on this car you need to get the Idle Air Control checked, In all the forums Ive read on this car , that seems to be whats wrong when the RPM's seem to high, also if you have the automatic trans and an electronic manual shifting mode does it do the same thing when you have it in the manual mode? there has been lots of discussion also on the MAP sensor,, I would suggest you have the OBD codes read to see if its listing any trouble codes within the computer that can help with locating your answers, once you get those codes if you post the results here, people will help you and explain what they mean, If you reply to this feed by replying, I will look them up for you
