Transmission code P0700 has appeared, and it can't shift past 2nd gear.

My 2005 jeep liberty feels as if the transmission is slipping and has error code P0700. It doesn't feel like it leaves 2nd gear after 35/40mph.

You are in limphome
i guess your scan tool is junk, mine does all a/t codes
got autozonded, try a real ASE shop with REAL tools.
limphome skips or limits gears
after all , how can it shift, lacking speed sensor data, etc.?
it can . guess and sets limits.
read the fsm , it covers all this.
or get it serviced. like most do.

Trans temp 2003 liberty 3.7 4x4

The P0700 code indicates that there's a malfunction with your vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM). This computer monitors your transmission and works with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Engine Control Module (ECM) to shift gears when necessary

Transmission Troubles codes on 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade 3.7L V6 4x4

well; all those p07xx codes are hard transmission errors
or shifter errors.
check levels yet on the tranny, not look like tar or smell burnt?
do it by the book do not guess, how. or horrible errors happen.

tranny 42RLE or 45RFE used .then.
P0731, means 1st gear ratio wrong. (means slipping)
732 means 2nd gear slips.
734 means 4th gear slips.

the causes are many
why are you not asking any shop to diagnose it
box leaks and leaked out ATF , and is way too low.
box pump is bad, weak.

he will scan it first . and even see more errors than you saw.

no miles on car told 20 year old and 250,000 miles on it ,or more?

What are codes P0733 and P0736 indicating on a 2002 Jeep Liberty?

Codes P0733 and P0736 on a 2002 Jeep Liberty refer to transmission-related issues. Here's what each code indicates: P0733 - Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio: This code indicates that the transmission is not shifting into the third gear correctly. It suggests a problem with the gear ratio between the input and output shafts of the transmission when the third gear is engaged. This could be caused by issues such as a faulty transmission solenoid, a worn or damaged gear, low transmission fluid level, or internal transmission problems. P0736 - Reverse Incorrect Ratio: This code indicates that the transmission is not shifting into the reverse gear correctly. It suggests a problem with the gear ratio between the input and output shafts of the transmission when the reverse gear is engaged. Possible causes could include a faulty transmission solenoid, a damaged or worn reverse gear, low transmission fluid level, or internal transmission issues.

MY JEEP LIBERTY WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF LOW

wow no year stated, its 1996 and never but how new
its a KK or KJ jeep 2002 to now. 14 years of jeep.
as is what transmission used, and if 2wd or 4wd.????
first the p0700 code
ONLY, means
1: SCAN TOO you using is junk, and old,
or
2: means the TCM needs to be scanned by self. to see all codes in the TCM.

my guess is you need a real scantool..

700 means, trans has errors, stored, ASK IT NOW.

1: fuses good,
2: is TCM plugged, in? some Liberties have seperate PCM and TCM.
3: the TCM most see all sensors working (where ever it hides)
if not , it will not ever upshift.
speed sensors dead, or not plugged in?
PCM cant talk to TCM.// oops....
and more.
the problem is your tools, (missing a real jeep scan too)
my INNOVA 3160 can see those errors, but ive never done a liberty, in fact i don't consider it a real jeep.

The TCM is JUST a computer (a simple microprocessor)
it has inputs and outputs (shift solenoids)
if the inputs lie, it can not shift or shifts wrong, or goes to limp home and skips gears.
all TCM work like that, and not scanning it is a FAIL.

you must scan it fully. to get all CODES.

I have a 2005 Dodge Stratus error code P0700 when the light comes on it wont shift out of 2nd gear. Where is the sensor located?

Code 700 is a generic code that means there is a problem with the transmission control module. It could be the module, or something else causing the module not to work correctly.
You would need a scanner and a repair book to get the test procedure.

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Article by Dale Toalston ASE Certified Technician Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction What does that mean? Many vehicles have a control module for the automatic transmission called a transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) communicates with the TCM to monitor the automatic transmission for faults. If the TCM detects a fault in the automatic transmission and sets a transmission related fault code, the ECM is informed of this also and sets a P0700 in the ECM memory. This illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to let the driver know there is a problem. If this code is present and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is illuminated that basically means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. It doesn't point to a direct fault in the engine, only a general fault in the transmission. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0700 DTC may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The transmission may exhibit drivability problems like slipping, etc. Causes More often then not, the cause of this code is that there is a transmission problem of some kind. The TCM detected the problem and set a code. P0700 means that a fault code is stored in the TCM. However this doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed PCM or TCM (unlikely). Possible Solutions For a P0700 the only real solution is to acquire a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission control module. Extracting this code from the TCM will be the first step in repairing the fault in the transmission. If the TCM compatible scan tool will not communicate with the Transmission Control Module then that is a good indication that there may be a fault with the TCM itself. 2002 jeep liberty auto trans check engine lte on code p0700 and will not shift of=ver 2nd gear when goes into 3rd gear it feels like in neutral

p0700 is pretty much the generic code for saying the computer that controls your transmission has a problem, it may not be the actual computer its self, but one of its sensores, or a bad wire, i would recomend taking it to a reputable transmission shop
