Fords have a problem if the battery runs flat or they are disconnected thus removing power from the onboard computer(s).

You may need to take the vehicle to a dealer service center to rectify the electronics problem for you and reset your computer.. To avoid this problem you need to connect up a second power source to the main leads to the battery while you are disconnecting those leads and replacing the battery so as to retain power to the onboard systems at all times.

In any event here is an item that may help you...........

I have replace my up and down stream sensors. i am still getting code p0031 and p2238. how do i get my check engine light off?

You can use a code reader to reset the light. You can pull the fuse for the ecm or you can unhook the battery.. Note on the battery method, you loose programming on clock, radio etc.

My 97 blazers clicks one time but wont start needs to get jumped to start most of the time lights and radio work also

check your alternator. To do that take a volt meter and check the voltage in the battery with the engine NOT running. It should be around 14 volts... but for the sake of testing lets say it is 12.5 volts. Now start the engine and check the batter voltage again. If it is lower than 12.5... The alternator is shot

My 1990 mercury grand marquis was boosted wrong

Might need to check the main circuits for a blown fuse or fuseable link.
There is a fuse wire between the alternator and battery.

Did the engine stops?
Sounds like your battery died and the alternator stop charging the battery?
Did you try to restart the engine?

Service engine light is on, speedometer jumps back & forth, idles rough at stop, radio clock light dims & goes off. Just replaced alternator & car ran fine for about 4 days...then, all these...

Hi:

I am not sure if everything is related, but here are a few suggestions:

Have an auto parts store download your code from the service engile light, and see what system it is pointing too. They usually will do this for free.

Your speedometer is driven off a speed sensor, in the top of the transmission.

not sure about your clock dimming, but I would have your new alternator checked out, too, and make sure it is still charging as it should.

Well if lights are not staying on then you have a draw of power somewhere. Easy way to find out is volt meter. You take off negative cable and put one end of meter to battery post and other to wire dont let the wire touch post or anyother metal of vehicle. Then go through your fuse box and pull fuse's one at a time until you see voltage on meter drop. Meter should should a (-)negative voltage at start and get smaller when right fuse is pulled take notes and pull all one at a time and replace back in orginal spot. If you find one that really lowers the negative voltage draw on meter good chance you found where problem is. Id start by checking all interior lights first, including glovebox.

1984 volvo battery light is on

CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE. IT SHOULD BE 12.5 VOLTS. IF NOT CHARGE BATTERY HAVE IT LOAD TESTED FOR DEAD CELLS. MAKE SURE BATTERY CABLES IS CLEAN AND TIGHT. FREE FROM CORROSSION. NOW IF BATTERY CABLES IS THE ORIGINAL CABLES. REPLACE THEM. NOW CHECK THE ALTERNATOR OUTPUT. USING A DIGITAL VOLT METER.IT SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.WITH CAR RUNNING IF NOT REMOVE ALTERNATOR HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS .BESURE TO TURN OFF RADIO.BEFORE REMOVING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.BECAUSE IF YOU DONT.YOU WILL LOSE RADIO CODE.AND RADIO WONT PLAY WHEN YOU TURN IT ON.
