I had a 94 s420 and now my 96 s320 same problem. nothing with lubricating but u can try buying some. I was told Mercedes come from Germany where it always is cool or cold. they have an inuation made of this hard like tar material. you may even see it on your glass and see some chunks that feel off after time and time being heated here in the northeast or where your from. I know my cars interior reaches at times in the summer sometimes 120f. If you take down the headliner u should be able to see if it is that tar board insulation. I just leave mine closed.
