Replace clutch

Disconnect wires and sensors from above (under the hood). Raise car. Disconnect wires and sensors underneath the car. Support the engine and transmission. Loosen or disconnect some motor mounts. Remove the bolts that hold the engine and transmission together. Remove bolts that attach clutch to flywheel. Seperate engine and tranny. Remove clutch. Installation in reverse.

Better directions given if you say what car you're asking about.

How do I take a tranmission out of a 2004 Chev Impala(police car)

Hello: First you have to support the engine from the top, you have to raise car, remove sub frame after you remove wheels lines, electrical connectors wheels etc. After removing sub frame remove bolts holding converter to flywheel remove bolts holding transmission to the engine. (NOT A BEGINNERS JOB)

Have a transmission jack to hold the transmission when you take it loose from the engine.

How to remove transmission fluid pan.

first off drain the fluid out of the transmission pan. I always remove the return hose(which is driver side on rad base) and put into a container. Put e-brake on start vehicle and put into drive, this will drain fluid out of transmission. When fluid stops flowing, re-attach return line to rad, put transmission back into park, shut off engine. Remove drain plug from bottom of transmission pan to drain remaining fluid. You will have to disconnect the front axle drive shaft to remove transmision pan. There are 4 bolts attached to flange at front of axle. Remove these bolts and nuts only and move shaft out of the way. Mark placement of at least 1 bolt on flange. If the bolt placement is not correct you will have vibration when 4 wheel drive is engaged. (Grease the bolts when putting back together.) Remove transmision dip stick from holder. There are 2, 10 or 12 mm bolts that hold the dip stick holder in place. These are 1/2 way down the holder and are attached to engine. You can reach these from top or bottom of vehicle. Replace at least 1 bolt when you put back together. If not the holder will vibrate against engine and will be annoying.
There are 10mm bolts holding the pan in place, remove all but one. When ready ensure there is enough clearance to allow the transmission pan and holder to be removed. Remove last bolt, as the pan drops, you will have to keep the pan level. Basically hold the pan and pull it down in a way that removes the dipstick holder. Since you have the pan off replace the fluid filter and clean plate filter is attached to. Also clean off magnets in transmission pan. The magnets are what picks up any metal pieces. Leave magnets in pan. When putting pan back on replace gasket if required and tighten bolts in offsetting pattern to allow for even seal. I believe it is only 14lbs torque required for the bolts. Do not over tighten as these will strip easily.

Need to pull a siezed engine from a 99 avenger (can't turn it over to undo torque converter bolts) Can it be pulled without pulling the transaxle? (is there enough clearance to pull the engine with torque...

There isn't enough room to pull the engine without removing the converter. You can try to separate the engine and the trans far enough to get to the bolts with a wrench. Or remove the engine and transmission together and unbolt the two out of the car.

Removeing the 4.3 engine

The first thing that comes to mind is the torque converter bolts. There are 3 that need to be removed with a wrench. Also the transmission needs to slide back so it has to come off the transmission crossmember. There are 6 bolts holding the motor and transmission together. If you are sure you have all the bolts out use a pry bar between the 2 to slide the trans off the 2 locating pins on the motor. Hope this helps.

I have been told that i need to pull or lift the engine to change the clutch. is that true and is this a driveway fix?

No you do not need to remove the engine. Transmission will come out from the bottom but you need to have the car high enough to do this. also you need an engine support Fixture that attaches to top of engine and top of engine compartment, to hold engine while transmission is removed and installed to replace clutch.

06 camry 2.4 engine removal

You are not going to get the engine and trans out thru the top together. What I do is hold the engine with a fender supported engine hook, and I remove the transmission.
Then I pull the engine out thru the top. Hope this helps.
