SOURCE: vehicle is nonresponsive

Check all fuses and switch relays that have the same numbers to find a dead relay.
Sounds like the battery died in the keyless entry as well as the battery in the car - but that is unusual unless you left the lights on or something and your keyless entry was already dying.  When you turn ignition key on do you hear a click from the relays?
More input would help.
Could be the mechanism in the lock in door where, when you unlock door with key, alarm is deactivated - this switch or the wires in the door-jam have cracked possibly from the door opening and closing especially in cold weather like here, in Canada - so your theft system is not getting that signal that the key is turned to unlock. Check the wiring by opening the black sheath in between drivers door and the car-body between hinges - slice and remove sheath if necessary - check these wires carefully as the plastic may still be good around the broken wire.
Test the battery - try a boost!

Remove Positive battery post from car for 12 hours and then replace to reset ECM.
Check the ground wire from the battery to the body and perhaps run a temporary ground to the body from the battery to a bare spot or clean bolt, and then switch from the battery negative to the engine to see if any lights activate as a bad ground to the body.

At the Starter - there are usually 2 or more wires that group together from the big post into more wires (is live (positive) - there are black gummy-bears on these lines that are fusible links (remove positive battery post) and test with an ohmeter between each side of the black gummy-bear - if no ohmeter is available put a 12 volt light on some wires or run through a 12-volt battery or charger (wires must be removed from starter to prevent power from going through system to confirm that unit is good) you can then test these fusible links in that way.

Next perhaps I would remove the power Distribution Center (box with fuses and relays you already switched and eliminated as problem) next to the battery usually and check the wiring underneath it and wiggle the harness connections to see if anything lights up. being careful not to do damage to any connections. also look for vacuum lines that may be needing replacing while you are in this location but has nothing to do with present problem.

I really suspect a bad wire somewhere most of all.
There is a connector on the steeriing column under the dash that connects the ignition key switch to the power distribution center and the starter connections.
There are fuses under the dash to the left of the column at times and perhaps in the glovebox or behind it.

Hope this helps some and not to confuse you but electrical is lots of work. Just a few tips that may assist you.
Good luck

The Passlock™ System is provided in order to prevent vehicle theft if the ignition lock cylinder is forced to rotate or the ignition switch is operated while separated from the ignition lock cylinder case. If starting is attempted without authorization from the Passlock™ System, the powertrain control module (PCM) will disable engine starting. Start disable may be in the form of fuel disable or starter disable, depending on engine application.
The components of the Passlock™ System are as follows:
• The ignition lock cylinder and key
• The ignition lock cylinder case, including the Passlock™ sensor
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The security indicator on the instrument cluster
• The powertrain control module (PCM)

Changing the Passlock™ Components
The following components contain codes or passwords, or must learn codes or passwords for the Passlock™ System to allow the vehicle to start:
• The ignition lock cylinder case
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
If any of these parts are replaced, a learn procedure must be performed. Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components . If parts are replaced and a learn procedure is not performed, the engine will crank and will not run or will start and stall immediately.

02 olds alero no start system shut down

Where did you try to by-pass at , with the 2000 ohm resistor ? Is the SECURITY light lit on the instrument cluster ? Probably has another problem other then the key . The anti-theft system in your vehicle can not be by-passed by using a resistor .

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Before you render it unfixable . (cost to much )

2000 grand am security light comes on can i bypass that with remote start

Are you the one who bought the vehicle new ? Replaced ignition switch or the ignition lock cylinder ? No , sorry, but a remote start will not by pass anti-theft system .

The vehicle theft deterrent system is designed in order to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the fuel injectors unless the lock cylinder is correctly engaged by a mechanical key. The theft deterrent system uses the following 4 components for theft prevention:
• The lock cylinder
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
When starting the engine, the PCM searches for a password from the BCM through the Class 2 serial data circuit. If the password is not recognized or not present, the PCM will disable the engine. Two modes of tamper detection are provided:
No password received
The engine will start and stall quickly. SECURITY telltale will flash on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and then stay ON steady.
Incorrect or disable password received (More than 3 invalid passwords are received)
The engine is disabled for at least 10 minutes and the SECURITY telltale will illuminate solid on the IPC during the 10 minutes.
After the vehicle has passed theft detection, the PCM will continue normal operation.

99 explorer alarm disables. Motor dies

Anti-theft system can keep vehicle from starting , Alarm is for vehicle content theft , open door without key alarm sounds (horns) ! PATS - passive anti theft system PATS enables and disables the engine from starting ,it will not cause the engine to die ! You have some other kind of problem ! If the vehicle engine doesn't turn over an red light on top of dash flashes fast ,then you have anti-theft system problem !
PATS differs from the perimeter anti-theft system in that PATS enables and disables the engine from starting. If equipped, the perimeter anti-theft system protects the perimeter of the vehicle (doors, hood and trunk) and sounds an alarm.

Where is the alarm controll box on the 03 malibu

Alarm box ? You mean anti-theft system ?

If starting is attempted without authorization from the Passlock?"¢ System, the powertrain control module (PCM) will disable engine starting. Start disable may be in the form of fuel disable or starter disable, depending on engine application.
The components of the Passlock?"¢ System are as follows:
?€¢
The ignition lock cylinder and key

?€¢
The ignition lock cylinder case, including the Passlock?"¢ sensor

?€¢
The ignition switch

?€¢
The body control module (BCM)

?€¢
The security indicator on the instrument cluster

?€¢
The powertrain control module (PCM)

Body Control Module (BCM)
The body control module (BCM) contains the logic of the Theft Deterrent System. The BCM provides the battery positive voltage to operate the Pass lock" sensor. The BCM also measures the voltage of the security sensor signal circuit. The voltage measured will indicate whether the Pass lock sensor has been activated and whether the resistance value from the sensor is a valid value or the tamper value. If voltage measured is in the valid range, the BCM compares this voltage, voltage code, to a previously learned voltage code. If the voltage codes match, the BCM sends a class 2 message containing a password to the powertrain control module (PCM). If the voltage codes do not match, or the voltage is in the tamper range, or there is a circuit fault, the BCM will not send the correct password to the PCM, and the vehicle will not start.
there is nothing you can do , if your vehicle won't start you need to take it to the dealer or a ASE certified repair shop. Messing with the anti-theft system may render your vehicle useless .

Whr is my fuel pump reset button on my 2003 grand am? Its security lock, it wont get any fuel. It cranks but wont start. Not getting any fuel. First time ever happening

There is no reset button.
The problem could be the anti-theft system which would knock out the injectors and spark to the plugs.
If the security light is staying on, the problem could be the chip in the key.

How do I reset the ProLock system?

Hi Carol , do you mean PATS passive antitheft system ? Locked up your car ,do you mean it won't crank over an start ?
The passive anti-theft system uses radio frequency identification technology to deter a driveaway theft. Passive means that it does not require any activity from the user.
  • During each vehicle start sequence, the ignition key identification code is requested by the vehicle protection anti-theft electronics.
  • If the key's ID code has been programmed into the system, the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) is signaled to enable the vehicle to start.
  • If the key's ID code is not programmed into the system, or if no encoded key is detected, then the powertrain control module is signaled to disable the vehicle.
The passive anti-theft system communicates the state of the security system to the powertrain control module via the J-1850 communications network data link connector (DLC). The powertrain control modulebased on the communications from the passive anti-theft system, will determine if the vehicle's engine is enabled to start. The passive anti-theft system differs from the active anti-theft alarm system in that the passive anti-theft system enables/disables the vehicle from starting and only operates with the ignition switch in RUN/START position. The active anti-theft alarm system has perimeter protection capabilities and operates only with the ignition switch OFF. Refer to Section 13-11A for active anti-theft alarm system information.
Vehicle Disabling The passive anti-theft system will be activated and disable the vehicle from starting if any of the following conditions exist:
  • damaged encoded key
  • unprogrammed key
  • non-encoded key (key has no electronics)
  • wiring concern
  • transceiver concern
  • Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) control module concern
  • J-1850 Communications Network concern
  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Where is the anti theft system fuse located on 2001 Chevy cavalier

There is no fuse for the anti-theft system ! It receives it's voltage from the BCM . Do you know what a BCM is ? It is a Body control module .

The body control system consists of a BCM and it's associated controls. Battery positive voltage is provided to the BCM from CLSTR fuse in the Fuse Block-left I/P. The module ground is wired to ground G201. The BCM is wired to the Class 2 serial data communication bus as well as discreet input and output terminals to control the functions of the vehicles body !
Now then Karen what problem is your vehicle having , no start an SECURITY light flashing or on solid ?
Now then
