I just bought a 1994 chevy astro van and the woman told me she got the oil changed. what i need to know is the length of the dipstick because i think the wrong one was put back in. thank you

I don;t know and I suspect few people will know the dimension you seek. The repair manual might list the dimension but the best method will be by direct comparison with one known to be correct.

Many years ago Ford had engine trouble with one of their models - the cure was to modify the dipstick by making a new maximum mark an inch higher than the original and then cutting it short at the original minimum mark, thus raising the oil level.

I suspect this modification has been carried out many times on non-Ford dipsticks for various reasons.

An alternative method would be to drain the oil and then refill with the correct oil change only quantity which should appear on the correct dipstick as a level around midway between max and min.

Have a ford 2n tractor with stripped camshaft gear. no timing mark on crank gear. how to time crank to cam?

Find number one cylinder and bring it to TDC, Rotate the cam till both valves in that cylinder are closed and then hook the chain to the gears. crank it by hand while observing the valves to be sure they are operating normal in respect to intake, compression and exhaust.

Can I check the oil pressure by my self? Inexprienced female.don't have money to get it checked, oil light has been on for over two weeks. I have put two 1/2 quarts of oil, still fades in and out....

Sweetheart, you have to check the oil with the dipstick under the hood. Read the labels and look in the owners manual. The dipstick has marks on it where the level should be.

Audi A4 1.9 TDI power steering oil type and capacity

Power steering fluid level checking:
- vehicle stationary
- front wheels in straight ahead position
- engine at normal operating temperature
- remove cap with dipstick from expansion tank and wipe off
- reinstall cap with dipstick and remove again
- fluid level between "min" and "max" markings
- top off with G 002 000 hydraulic oil if necessary
Power steering system capacity is around 1 liter, but it is not necessary to periodic change the hydraulic oil!
If oil level has dropped to the "min" marking, check power steering system, including hoses and lines.
It is not enough simply to top off the hydraulic oil !!!

Need to know how to check oil in transmition in a 95 ford aspire

Check the engine oil level every time you fill the gas tank. The car should be on level ground when checking the oil.
  1. Turn the car off and wait several minutes.
  2. Locate the engine oil dipstick and withdraw it from the tube.
  3. Wipe the dipstick with a clean rag and reinsert it in the dipstick tube.
  4. Remove the dipstick again, hold the dipstick horizontally and observe the level of the oil.

Fig. 1: Grasp the engine oil dipstick and withdraw it from the tube

22d3954.gif
Fig. 2: Observe the oil level on the dipstick and add oil if it is low

  1. The oil level should be at the FULL mark on the dipstick.
  2. If the level is at or near the LOW mark, replace the dipstick and add fresh oil to bring the level up to the FULL mark. Do not overfill.
  3. Recheck the oil level and close the hood.

Good luck, and remember rated this help!!!

Proper trans fluid reading

I only want return busness due to correct answers.....don't beleive in job security. We check transmission oil at normal operating temp because oil expands when it is hot, and too much oil will blow seals, also when hydraulics are in use they show the correct level, so it has to be in motion, (turning). Let me know when you get the level right. Yes if you do not do it the way you are right now, you would have to undo bolts to get it out.
