SOURCE: LIFTGATE AJAR LIGHTS UP

the problem is the lift-gate ajar/courtesy light switch that is located on the left and right latch assemble of the lift gate, they stick and cause this concern, there are numerous technical service bulletins from Ford about this, have replaced at least 100. PS, washing the engine had nothing to do with it, u can try using spray lube on the latch's and open and close the gate repeatably to see if the switch un-sticks.

SOURCE: My 2003 LIncoln Navigator liftgate is not working.

check relay and fuses, make sure that automatic liftgate is on. You will have to to the command center and go through the defaults and make sure that the system is on. if you are not comfortable doing that, disconnect battery for approximate ten minutes, this will reset the system defaults.

SOURCE: my 06 lincoln navigator liftgate is ajar and

Check with the dealer. For a short while there was a recall on the rear window liftgate.

If you are talking about the entire metal back door, thats a bigger problem.

Either way, your 2006 Lincoln has a long warranty and may be covered.

SOURCE: my liftgate ajar warning light comes on after car

try rolling down a window or leaving a door open, shut liftgate hard. see if it still shows liftgate ajar. on my explorer the seals in door and windows shut so tightly that it was almost impossible to get the gate closed completely with doors closed and windows up.

if this doesn't help then you might need a new switch on it.

Horn on ford explorer 2004 is continuously working when i beep the horn . I was told by electrician I need to replace horn sensor ,where is the horn sensor located & can it be bought used , thank u

more then likely it's a door ajar switch - not a sensor .
Anti-Theft- Perimeter Alarm System
The perimeter anti-theft system provides for vehicle security through an audible and visual notification if the vehicle's exterior is invaded without the system being shut off. The system self-arms when the doors, liftgate and hood are closed and the key is OFF. Any open door, hood or liftgate will prevent the system from arming. The hood ajar switch, door ajar switches and liftgate ajar switch cause these circuits to register as normally closed circuits. The vehicle security module monitors the status of the hood ajar, door ajar and liftgate ajar switches. If these circuits indicate an open entry point, the switch opens the circuit to the vehicle security module, which energizes the horn and autolamp relays (causing the horn to sound and the lights to flash). The vehicle security module turns off the anti-theft system when it receives a command through the keyless entry keypad, remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter, or anti-theft alarm inhibit switch.

The rear door want open on my 2005 Lincoln navigater the button up by rear view mirror is broken and the button under the handle on the door want do any thing

Does it have a power lift gate ? Do you know anything about automotive electrical systems ? How to use a wiring diagram along with a digital volt ohmmeter to test electrical circuits . ?
Power Liftgate
The power liftgate feature will allow the customer to automatically open or close the liftgate by activating the interior open/close switch, the remote keyless entry transmitter, or by manually initiating liftgate movement. The power liftgate uses a power cinch system to latch the liftgate.
The power liftgate system consists of:
  • Power liftgate control switch (located in the overhead console)
  • Power liftgate motors (located in the rear headliner area)
  • Optical sensor and power liftgate encoder wheel (located in the left power liftgate motor assembly)
  • Pinch strip switches (located on the body by the liftgate)
  • Home position switch (located on the cinch actuator)
  • Forkbolt switch (located on the cinching latch assembly)
  • Detent switch (located on the cinching latch assembly)
  • Liftgate close chime module (located in a unit external from the power liftgate module)
The forkbolt and detent switch are located on the cinch latch assembly and the home position switch is located on the cinch actuator assembly. For information on removal of the latch or cinch actuator assembly, refer to Section 501-14 .
The power liftgate may not operate under the following conditions:
  • a low voltage or dead battery.
  • a disconnected battery.
  • a power liftgate that has been left open for more than six hours.
  • a power liftgate that has been manually closed and left ajar.
If any of these conditions has occurred, the power liftgate must be reset before performing any pinpoint tests. For additional information, refer to Power Liftgate Initialization .

Power Liftgate Initialization NOTE: If the power liftgate system is turned OFF in the message center, the system cannot be activated with any switches or with the liftgate handle. The system will need to be turned ON for any power operation to occur.
NOTE: The power liftgate may not operate under the following conditions:
  • a low voltage or dead battery.
  • a disconnected battery
  • a power liftgate that has been left open for more than six hours.
  • a power liftgate that has been manually closed and left ajar.
If any of these conditions has occurred, the power liftgate must be reset.
  1. Manually close and fully latch the power liftgate.
  1. NOTE: If the power liftgate does not open during this step, refer to the symptom chart to diagnose the power liftgate for no operation. Power open the power liftgate by using the keyfob or overhead console switch.
  1. Once the power liftgate is fully open, close the power liftgate by using the keyfob or overhead console switch.
  2. your best bet mite be to have a qualified repair shop check it out .

What causes message rear door open on the DIC? The liftgate will not open or close.

Door ajar switch possibly . The lift gate not working is a different matter . Could be any number of thing's .
Power Liftgate System Components
• Liftgate motor assembly
• Liftgate latch
• Liftgate module (LGM)
• Liftgate side upper sensor - left
• Liftgate side upper sensor - right
• Liftgate handle switch
• Liftgate close switch
• GMLAN serial data link
• PWR LIFT GATE 30 amp fuse
• PLG 10 amp mini-fuse

Your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic tool that can communicate with the lift gate control module , too check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's .
Liftgate Module
The liftgate module controls the liftgate motor, liftgate clutch, and liftgate latch based on various inputs. The liftgate module also performs diagnostics on these inputs and outputs and will disable liftgate functionality and set DTCs should a fault be detected. The liftgate module is secured to the motor assembly at the left rear of the vehicle. The module requires a liftgate position learn procedure be performed when replacing. This allows the module to learn the full open and full closed positions of the liftgate.

2008 Cadillac srx power tailgate opens fine, but won't close with the remote. I can't hear the motor. The auto close button doesn't work either. Is there a fuse or relay? If so where is it?

An electronic control module controls it .
The liftgate module (LGM) controls operation of the liftgate latch motor and the liftgate actuator assembly. Do you have a Liftgate Ajar Indicator ON ? Or a message in the message center driver information center (DIC) illuminates the LIFT GATE AJAR indicator ? The liftgate control module could have a DTC - diagnostic trouble code in memory !

When open, the liftgate can be closed by either a keyless entry transmitter or the liftgate close switch. When a GMLAN serial data message or switch input is seen, the liftgate module begins the close sequence. The liftgate motor is reversed, lowering the liftgate until it latches into the liftgate latch. Once latched, the latch will cinch the liftgate to a fully closed position.
Power liftgate function will only be allowed if certain operating criteria are met. Any of the following may cause the power liftgate not to function:
?€¢ Vehicle is not in park. ?€¢ Engine cranking is present. ?€¢ Temperature limits have been exceeded. ?€¢ Liftgate motor overcurrent is detected. ?€¢ Excessive hall effect counts are seen. ?€¢ System voltage is out of range. ?€¢ A DTC is set that disables power liftgate functionality. The liftgate also receives inputs from 2 object detection sensors. If either of these sensors indicate an object is in the path of the liftgate, liftgate functions will be suspended until the object is removed.

Liftgate ajar light on when liftgate is closed when driving interior light are on. I open and close liftgate, but no such luck liftgate ajar light on and all interior lights when driving

I recently had a similar problem with the "liftgate ajar" light lighting randomly on my 2001 PT Cruiser. It was even occurring AFTER I had disconnected the "ajar sensor" on the liftgate. Finally found that 5 wires were broken, one of them the liftgate ajar sensor wire, in the wire bundle that leaves the top of the liftgate and goes into the chassis. I suspect that those broken wires would randomly trigger. Inline spliced the wires and resealed the bundle. Everything looks good for now, although time will tell.
