Only thing it could have been in the first place is the wire from the switch to the starter is disconnected from the starter. Even a new switch won't fix that. Just get under the car and plug the wire back onto the spade connector.

I HAVE A 1988 HONDA ACCORD DX,WHEN I TRIED STARTING IT EVERY THING WENT OUT

If there is no power presently, most likely it blew the fusible link, Honda's have a fusible link just off the battery and is located usually along the inside of the passenger fender follow the wire from the battery and you will find it, most likely that is the culprit, good luck.

I have seen issues like this on other Honda's and the problem turned out to be the ignition starter switch. Do this, jumper power directly to the starter solenoid trigger wire and see if the engine cranks.

1988 Honda Accord will not start,, lights work but doesn't try to turn over

check the battery voltage ,. if it;s above 12 volts then test the wire going to the solenoid to see if it has 12 volts when turning the key to start. if it does then the solenoid or starter could be bad/

1995 honda accord put new starter on then new solenoid still starter will not turn over or nothing checked all fuses grounds still no power to starter?

There is still the starter relay and the actual ignition switch to check. Either could've failed, preventing current from going to the starter while trying to crank the engine. Check them out.

99 honda accord dies @various times. Whats happening?

Does it restart easily?

Check the battery lead to the car body the black one ensure it is tight and has a good connection. ensure the battery leads are both tight and make sure neither are touching the bonnet.

Can you give me some more details like how it happened, what the car does when it happens etc.?

My 1997 honda accord wont start.....

Hi Matt

Follow the( + ) positive lead from the battery, to the starter, check the connections, if all OK, get someone to turn the ignition key to start, and give the starter a tap, on the selenoid, with a small hammer or a metal socket extension.

Good Luck !

Let me know the outcome !

Also a FixYa rating would be nice !

1991 Honda Accord Starting/Ignition trouble

sounds like a bad battery or the battery cables are corroded where they hook up to the battery or loose. if it cranks for a couple seconds slow than clicks quickly there isnt enough voltage getting to the starter. not all new parts are good.
