Why is my 2008 Range Rover overheating still

Usually people check everything, change the thermostat and forget to check if the cooling fans work? The other possibility is that the water pump is failing.

The simplest thing would be if there is a big air lock in the system and the water isn't circulating properly. No heat coming out of vents is a symptom of that because the heater core is high up in the system behind the dash. Read this Tip I wrote. Raising the front of the vehicle is important to fill the heater core as well as putting heating on MAX.

I change the thermstat i change the water pump what alse would make it over heat

I have a 1998 Disco I and I have the same problem. This weekend, June 29, 2013 my car overheated while driving up a maze in a parking garage to the guest parking. All of a sudden my temperature went way high but not quite at the redline. By the time I got to the seventh level and turned off the care, the radiator spewed fluid everywhere. The next morning I drove it home (3 miles) and it did not overheat. I filled the radiator with water and there is no obvious leak. I don't know what to do and I have been driving here and there with no problem and no overheating !!!!?????

Im not getting any heat and my truck is overheating

It is overheating because not enough coolant circulating through engine water jacket. There are 3 things to cause this problem:
1- Bad Thermostat is not opening at pre-determine temperature. 2- Bad water pump not turning as the belt driving. 3- Bad radiator is clogging up causing coolant stagnant even good thermostat and good water pump
Since you don't have heater, there maybe a serious problem of no coolant in the loop due to a blown head gasket. What happens is that due to the blown head gasket, coolant gets through the oil path from water jacket, so the coolant level is low not at the coolant hose level for heater core to receive the coolant. There is no coolant flowing through the heater core or heater matrix, hence there is no heater.
Check oil level, if it is high then water already gotten in the engine causing coolant is at low level from radiator. If you don't have this problem then you can be happy about that. Now go back to check on the 3 things that I mentioned earlier. Good luck.

Car won't start over heating

How do you know it's overheating if it won't start??? Have you checked the coolant level in the overflow tank? If it's dry, it's probably low on coolant, hence the overheating. If it's full, you may have a thermostat that's stuck closed. If it has already overheated, and now won't start, let's hope you haven't seized up the engine. That's thousands to repair or replace.

Gearbox overheated refer to handbook?

Transmission fluid has become too hot. Check the transmission fluid level (dip stick on passenger side near firewall), then check the transmission cooler, cooling pipes and fittings for leaks or breaks. For other possibilities check www.rangerovers.net .

My 1997 discovery land rover is over heating, every 20 minutes or so, its starts to over heat, what could it be? would the motor be totally shot?

The motor is not totally shot. Here is a short checklist for you to go down to find your problem:
  1. Check your coolant level to make sure it is full. If it's not it will cause overheating
  2. Change your thermostat, they go bad and stop opening properly and need to be replaced.
  3. Check radiator fan to see if it is functioning properly.
  4. Check lower radiator hose to see if it is still solid. If it is "mushy" it can sometimes close up when the fluid is trying to flow.
Let me know what you find when checking these and thanks for using FixYa!
