Before making any repairs I suggest you put an external mechanical oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit and determine what your actual oil pressure is. That will tell you which way to go using real numbers. If this condition appeared suddenly it may not be a large problem, especially as you did not note any knocking etc that goes along with internal wear.
thank you for the response, I don't know if this makes a dif. but the car had been parked for approx. 8 months before getting running again also No Knocking, and just topped off the oil to full it was down about a quart prior to,
also where would i get the external oil pressure gauge to try your suggestion

CHANGE THE OIL PRESSIOR SENSSOR IS IN THE TOP OF THE OIL FILTER
The idle may be to low or the motor is just old and a new set of rod bearings is need with an oilpump to bring the pressure back up.
