SOURCE: Vacuum Controlled A/C Blend Door Issues

Check the white vacuum hose going to your recirculation vacuum motor under the hood to the right side of the fire wall. It runs inside a wiring harness. The hose will get brittle and break apart. Start there it is the most common vacuum leak on a ford truck.I hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 AC switch in dash does not

Sounds like there is a foreign object in the heater case. The only way to reapair it is to remove the object by possibly removing the heater case.

SOURCE: heater/AC vent option knob produces knocking sound

If I am reading correctly you are hearing the vent doors moving to redirect the airflow to the vents you choose. This is normal and can be more noticeable if the blower fan is on, putting air pressure against the doors.

I have a 2003 mustang and when the air conditioning or heater to window I get a ticking noise but don't hear the noise when turned to the vent or floor can you tell me what might be the problem thanks

There are a couple of actuators under the dash that control the blend door flaps. They can end up with stripped internal gears. When you operate the controls it will indicate what actuator has failed and needs replacing. Here's a video on an 05 Mustang actuator fail diagnosis -

When I turn off engine, why do I hear a clicking sound from under dash?

HI THE CLICKING SOUND IS PROBABLY A HEATER/AC ACTUATOR WITH A STRIPPED GEAR , WHEN THIS HAPPENS TRY TO MOVE THE HEATER CONTROL KNOB FOR THE MODES (DEFROST/FLOOR/VENTS) SEE IF NOISE CHANGES . IF IT DOSE THEN THE ISSUE IS WITH A ACTUATOR UNDER THE DASH

Heater only blows out defrost

The defrost position is the default for safety so that air always blows on the windshield in case of frost.
The most common problem is a faulty blend door under the dash.
In most cases the door must be calibrated with a scan tool if you replace it.

HVAC duct doesn't change when control is changed. Heater has hot air, AC has cold air, fan changes speeds when control is changed from low to high, but when control for defrost/panel/floor is changed,...

It is in the blend motor under the dash, this is water cycles it between locations. You will have to get it from dealer. It is bolted on under dash on either the passenger side or driver side of center console dealer can tell you exactly where it is. They are not usually that much.

Cannot change air direction of airflow going to vents for heater/a/c.example cannot change from defrost to floor.

probllem can be one of two things either the switch on the dash control is bad and will not let it change or the blend motor is bad under the dash there are two or three of the these under there one moves from hot to cold one moves it around from dash to feet to vents best way to find out is to get someone to turn the knobs while you listen and look for them to move

sounds like it might be a blend door motor, It is located on the drivers side up under the dash on the side of the heater box, try looking at it while turning the knobs on the dash and see if it is changing positions, if not than the blend door motor might be the problem

Climate control stuck in defrost/floor vents

The problem is probably a faulty diverter door actuator or vacuum problem at the HVAC plenum under the dash. This is a common problem - see YouTube for help diagnosing this:

Heater control 98 chevy s10 blazer

These trucks have a problem where moisture builds up in the heater box then freezes. When this freezes and you change your heater settings it breaks the shaft for the blend door. If this is what happened you should be able to look under the dash above and to the right of the gas pedal and you will see two vaccuum accuators one of them you should be able to wiggle around the linkage if it is broke. To fix this you need to remove the entire dash to get the heater box out which involves discharging the AC and draining the coolant because the heater core and evaporator come out. Please rate.
