Can a vss for a 4t60e transaxle be used in a 4t80e transaxle and visa versa ?
Hi
I am wondering,if a vss for a 4t60e transaxle can be used in the 4t80e transaxle as well, or do they have a vss for just the 4t60e transaxle and one for the 4t80e transaxle?
I would really appreciate an answer to this as I can't find anything on them any where
Thank you

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a magnetic pick-up sensor that sends a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the speedometer. The sensor measures the rotation of the output shaft on the transaxle and sends an AC voltage signal to the PCM which determines the corresponding vehicle speed.
TESTING
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Disengage the wiring harness connector from the VSS.
Using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM), measure the resistance (ohmmeter function) between the sensor terminals. If the resistance is 190-250 ohms, the sensor is okay.
Hi there: On 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0L EFI 6cyl the Vehicle Speed Sensor is Mounted on transmission. To removal procedure...
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the catalytic converter Y-pipe.
Unplug the VSS electrical connector.
Remove the VSS protective heat shield.
Remove the retaining bolt from the VSS.
Lift the VSS out of the transaxle.
Remove the driven gear retainer and the drive gear.
To install:
Inspect the O-ring on the sensor and replace if necessary.
Install the driven gear and the retainer.
Place the VSS into the transaxle.
Tighten the retaining bolt to 36-53 inch lbs. (4-6 Nm).
Install the VSS protective heat shield.
Attach the VSS electrical connector.
Install the catalytic converter Y-pipe.
Lower the vehicle.
Connect the negative battery cable.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE ON LEVEL SOLID GROUND.THE VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR LOCATED ON THE TRANSAXLE ON THE OUT PUT SHAFT HOUSING.YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FROM THE VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR.THEN REMOVE THE MOUNTING BOLT WITH DRAW VSS SENSOR FROM TRANSAXLE.REPLACE THE VSS OR VECHICLE SPEED SENSOR AND O - RING.YOU ARE DONE.INSTALL THE NEW VSS SENSOR AND NEW O - RING IN TRANSAXLE. THATS ALL.
the aan and mln is the modle it goes to. aan is for sls and the mln is for deville. as long as the conectors are the same thair should be no problems. i changed a 4t60e out of a 95 deville and the id tag was difrent then the replacement transmission id tag and a year later its still driving so . im gonna say ya it should be fine
Remove the VSS again and reach into the hole the VSS goes into with your finger. You want to use your finger to ensure that the plastic gear (inside the transaxle) is not damaged or missing teeth. Also check the plastic gear on the VSS. If either of these gears have damaged teeth, your VSS won't turn, hence no speedometer or odometer function.
