How do I fix a Service Airbag Light on my 2010 Chevrolet Malibu when scantool does not communicate with the car.

I got a service Airbag light on my dash on a 2010 Chevrolet malibu. i hooked up a scan tool innova 3150 that can detect airbag codes and erase them. When i hooked it up to my car, it says a message that this instrument cannot communicate with the vehicle system. what should i check and how do i solve this issue? is there a wiring fault, or what? btw, the vehicle was involved in a minor front collision, but the airbags did not go off.your assistance would be appreciated.

The passenger seat airbag only fires in a crash if there is someone sitting on the passenger seat. There is a sensor in the seat cushion that register a person sitting there. Under the seat there will be a connector, take it apart and spray it with electrical contact cleaner.

That means the air bag control module see's a problem in the electrical circuit's or impact sensor etc... Light lit ,DTC- diagnostic trouble code stored . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

Is driver airbag still functional when passenger airbag light is on in a 2010 Chevy malibu?
Hello Collette,

(Owner Manual Page 2-68)
The passenger sensing system turns off the right front
passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side
impact airbag under certain conditions. The driver
airbags and the roof-rail airbags are not affected by the
passenger sensing system.
The passenger sensing system works with sensors that
are part of the right front passenger seat. The sensors
are designed to detect the presence of a properly-seated
occupant and determine if the right front passenger
frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag
should be enabled (may inflate) or not.

I'm not sure if a purse or other light weight objects would activate the passenger airbag but if your display is showing random passenger activation it would be best to have a qualified dealer check into it...better safe than sorry.

How to reset service airbag light on a 2005 malibu
first of all, I'd recommend finding out why the light is on but if you want to reset the light, disconnect your battery (positive and negative) cables for about 5-10 minutes. This should turn off the light (and any other warning lights too).

How to fix b0019-0d
There are two junction connections on the four wire harness that runs from the SDM (airbag controller under driver seat) to the passenger side airbag (I/P module). Once connection is just below the passenger side airbag in the dash and another is behind the driver side kick panel.

In my case, the connector behind the driver side kick panel had likely a bit of corrosion and there was high resistance that thre the service airbag message and light on the dash. Once I cleaned this connection, the light was gone and the problem is now fixed.

High resistance in either of these connections will throw the B0019 OD code.

Reset oil light
turn ignition on (do not start) press accelerator pedal to the floor and hold for 30 seconds, let off for 30 seconds, then turn ignition off allow an additional 30 seconds and start veh. if does'nt work 1st time repeat. this sounds strange but thats how to reset the oil change light.

Chevy silverado 2006 lights "service air bag"
First of all you need to get this problem fixed ASAP. While the airbag light is illuminated, your SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module aka: the brain of your airbag system) shuts of power to the airbags. In which, if you are in an accident your airbags will not deploy while this light is illuminated. You need to take your vehicle to a GM dealership. A Tech 2 scantool is needed to retrieve the code from the SDM. Hopefully it won't be a costly repair, but is something that defineatly needs to be corrected soon. Good luck and hope all works well.

Service airbag light stays on
I have a 2007 chevrolet silverado and my service airbag light came on. I was out camping with the sterio going and ran the batt low but their was enough juice to restart after about 10 min. On the way home the service light stayed on and i just fixed the problem which was a fuse under the hood in the main fuse pannel. It is very common due to low voltage on start up to blow a 15 amp fuse.
