Besides replacing the compressor you have to change the accumulator/ drier and recharge with the correct gas
AS this requires specialist knowledge it will be best if you have an accredited ac specialist shop do the job

A C not blowing cold

It all depends, has the AC system been recharged?
If it has and it's not blowing cold air it could be that the AC compressor is ceased. If the AC recharge has been done by you, did you make sure that there was no pressure in the system with an ac compressor vacuum? If the AC Compressor had some pressure left in it and it was recharged without first vacuuming the system, that can cause it to lock. Another possible issue is that it has a small leak somewhere.

Compressor keeps turning off and on. Stays on for about a minute. Cycles off. Then stays off. Does recycle after a few minutes. How do I add coolant and where.

It is normal for the compressor to cycle - when a certain pressure is reached in the system, a pressure switch disengages the compressor clutch, and then activates it again when then the pressure drops below a certain point. Unless your air temperature doesn't stay relatively constant, there is no need to do anything. If it doesn't, the system may need recharging and that should only be done at a certified repair shop.

93 Allante AC Compressor won't come on to recharge system

On most models you would need to jumper the low pressure switch while you are recharging the system. There should be a low pressure switch on the low side line and a high pressure switch on the high side or on the compressor.

2007 dodge nitro not blowing cold air

The AC compressor may need recharged, or repaired / replaced. A lot of times what happens is through the winter AC units aren't ran so the seals recieve no oil and dry out letting coolant escape. Sometimes you can get lucky and a recharge (which contains oil essential for your seals) will do it - if they are too dry however, you will need a new compressor. You can have your AC unit recharged at nearly any dealership except in the state of California. Hope this helps.

I have a 1999 protege and the air conditioner doesn't work. It has been recharged twice and stopped working twice. They have done one major repair of gaskets and seals. It looks like the compressor...

You definitely have an AC leak that has been missed twice. An evaporator is a common problem that is often missed ( not saying that's yours) Take it for a second opinion. if it keeps needing to be recharged its leaking. Its supposed to be a sealed system.

Air conditioner not working

If you are still getting air from the vents but it is not cold then you either have a bad compressor or just need to recharge it.

With the engine on in idle, turn on the AC and watch the RPMs. They should drop about 50-100 when you turn it on, also listen for the sound of the compressor kicking in. If you notice either of these things then the compressor is probably fine and the AC just needs to be recharged.

Head to your local auto parts store and pick up a recharge kit. The kit will have pretty good instructions on how to recharge it. If you are having difficulties following them just let me know.

I have cadillac deville 1991. need new gas ac

the shop is trying to sell something not needed. i have done many change overs without changing anything but refrigerent ant adding they oil supplied in the 35$ change over kit offered everywere.some have many years and miles on them and are ok.the arguement the shops will give are well sir, your compressor will go out.not, and if it did so what change it when it broke. the orings will leak.not my first change over kit job was in 1999 and the a/c still works fine. so get the r12 to 134a kit at walmart it will work unless it dont work now wich would mean it leaked out or some other failure. if so fix leaks/repair system then recharge

Ac not throwing sufficient cold air

I would try recharging the system. if the recharge doesn't produce could air, this will confirm a compressor failure.Inspect the clutch function. the AC clutch should click when it is engaging the compressors actions.
