P0505: Idle Control System Malfunction. The computer controls idle through the idle air control motor or valve. It would be mounted on the throttle body assembly.
-Possible causes are Faulty Idle Control System motor
- Idle Control System motor harness is open or shorted
- Idle Control System motor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Powertrain or Engine Control Module
- Vaccum leaks or damaged hoses or improper routing check for vaccum leaks first if this was helpful please leave good feed back
Code 505 is for a problem with the idle air control valve. It could be the valve, or a dirty throttle body, or a problem in the harness. If you replaced the IAC and the throttle body is clean, and the code remains, you probably need to open the harness and check the wires.
You need to find out what DTC the vehicle sets when the check engine light comes on. This will help you diagnose the problem. The engine is misfiring causing the rough running concern and probably the vibration in the dash. The DTC will tell you what specific cylinder the misfire is in P0300-304 or if the fuel is metering too lean P0171. Then you can check the appropriate system for a fault. you'll need to get a generic OBD2 code puller (local parts stores sells these things). let me know what specific DTC's you pull and I'll see if I can help you further.
p0505 is a code for your IAC (idle air control valve) located right below the TPS (throttle positioning sensor). Beware it is not necessarily the sensor. If you use a test light on the connection coming to it while the vehicle is running and rev the motor each terminal (probably four) should flash. In this case it is most likely your sensor. If not it is in the wiring or your pcm.
the idle air motor in the throttle body is probably not working right it lets more air in the intake when its cold and is supposed to shut off when it warms up if its not shuttin off then it is probably not closing
