You need to find out what DTC the vehicle sets when the check engine light comes on. This will help you diagnose the problem. The engine is misfiring causing the rough running concern and probably the vibration in the dash. If diagnostic trouble code P0715 is output four times, the transaxle is locked into 3rd gear or 2nd gear as a fail-safe measure.
