The recline on my power seat stopped working

If it will move in every other direction I would start by looking under the seat and check down in the seat trac for something lodged in it way.

On a 2006 yeah that sounds like a defect in the motor I would look to see if there were a recall on it.

I was JUST working on a similar problem at work. It was a 2006 Altima SE with improper seat operation. It would ONLy go up/down on the bottom section of the seat. The recline and slide didnt work at all. It was looked at by different dealer and they couldn't fix it, so it end it up at my dealer ship. Since some of the features of the power seat are working, that means that you have power going to the switch. The switch provides ground for the whole circuit. The wires coming from the switch got chaffed and switch burned up. I installed new seat switch ($150 or so for the switch) and the whole seat bursted to life. I am pretty sure that you seat switch in NG.

I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima that had the same problem. You really can't bring the seat back up without removing the motor and manually turning the metal rod. The motor in my case was fine. I opened the switch and found that a trace on the small circuit board was cut/missing. I soldered it on the spot and it solved the problem. You can access the switch by carefully prying off the switch buttons, then the plate. There are two screws that must be removed so that you can pull the switch assembly out of the seat.

Motor on the seat may have gone out, contacts in switch got dirty or worn, or assembly reached limit and stuck. Try sitting in it pushing back hard and adjust. If not youll need to replace switch,b take seat apart to fix or replace.

its not the motor its the switch to the seat...it happ. to me b4.
