The switch contacts get fouled up and require cleaning, otherwise it's a very expensive job to replace the wiper stalk switch assembly. Found this on an Audi forum (there's a html link in one post to an S5 switch overhaul but I'm not sure if it's the same procedure as a Q5) - Wiper Switch Audi A5 Forum Audi S5 Forum
No.# 31 fuse (25A - white colour) placed in the engine bay fuse box / relay plate, is for the front windscreen wipers for an Audi A3 2005 2.0 TDI. See pictures below:
Just saw your post as I was having the same problem. The fuse that you need to look at is #37. I changed that fuse and everything was all good. Apparently the headlight washer pop-ups can freeze up in cold weather and blow the fuse.
It is possible that the linkage is jammed. Try turning the wipers on and gently pull the wiper arm by hand to see if it will move. It it starts to move you've found the problem.
If it doesn't move at all and the fuses are ok it is likely the wiper motor that has failed.
you left something disconnected the wiper motor is connected to a transmission and transmission is connected to wiper pivots and pivots move wiper arms seems like you missed something
Try to run a ground test on the motor, If it gets power, then you neeed to replace the switch.. if it doesnt run with the ground test, then you need a wiper motor.
