It appears you may have a bad ignition coil that cuts out after it gets hot. Not uncommon.

2002 Ford Laser 1.6. Ran out of fuel, car ran rough and jerks when accelerating. Fuel filter changed, no effect. Exhaust pipe at bottom of engine is glowing red after 10 min test drive, smell of CO2

if you have a missfire the catalytic converter will glow red. if is blocked it will aso glow red. the smell is probably closer to gunpowder.co2 has no odor. try checking fuel pressure if low check the fuel pump

I just purchased a 98 Eddie Bauer Ford expedition and upon going over 50 or cutting on the air conditioner,it has a dragging feeling while I'm pressing the gas and then begin jerking. Accelerating on RPM....

IN the USA?
The car has OBD2 PCM.,
so the dash lamp called CEL glows. telling you that it is is misfiring
the lamp comes on or worse flashes, (in Canada it may not. glow)
the best practice, no matter, is have a scan tool connected to see if you get DTC errors. up hill. (and live sensor data , is better)
did you do the 60k mile service yet, every 60k, if not BINGO.
jerking is misfire.
the CEL on USA cars glows, then,
SPark plug , love to misfire , uphill, the more load the more pressure
the more likely the fail, can be seen on all good PRO spark plug testers. (pressure test machine)

can be one of 3 things.
1: lost compression on 1 or more cylinders.
2: bad spark to same.
3: bad fueling (too lean or too rich)
simple tests find true cause, got tools.? if not, its guessing time.

Car jerks hard taking off

Since you\'re old school I would think you\'ve already checked the normal stuff like the fluid level in the transmission. If this is good, has the transmission ever been serviced? I\'m not familiar with your vehicle so if it has a filter it could be that is partially clogged, Does the fluid have a strong smell to it? Does is feel absolutely smooth or can you feel or see little flecks of something in it. You may solve this by dropping the pan and replacing the filter. But if that is the problem it will only be temporary as if there is debris in the pan you are ready for a rebuild. The sooner you do it, the better before you have hard part damage. Another possibility is a bad solenoid in the tramsission that isn\'t sensing the pressure until it is high enough to jerk when it kicks into gear. Again to even check this though you need a transmission guy to pull it and look it over. Sorry guy.

Honda element 03. Normally starts up at 1,000 rpm in park and shifts into drive smoothly. Sometimes starts up b/w 1.5 and 2k rpm at idle and JERKS into drive or reverse.Solutions?

Cars not control choke themselves electronically, this is likely the car trying to warm itself up quickly. The jerking will occurs anytime you shift into gear at an RPM over a low idle as the torque converter is being engaged. If the high idle last more than a couple of minutes then you might have an issue.

For some reason my 98 honda accord 2.3 engine. Its starting to jerk slightly when I drive over 45 miles an hour nd I break to a complete stop thats when I feel the jerk. Sometimes the jerk can be harder...

Front brake rotors need to be turned and new pads. Adjust rear brakes. the front brakes are doing all of the stopping. (overheating the rotors, premature pad wear).

1998 chevy 1500 silverado 5.7 liter 2 wheel drive missfired, jerked and died it would not start.

The first thing you do is run an OBD2 engine control module fault code test, this engine is fully electronically controlled. You will need a code reader to do this test, rent one or borrow one from a local auto parts store like Autozone or O'reilly. The test connector under the dash in front of the driver. I have a nissan maxima 04 and when I switch the gears from park to drive before I can even push on the gas some times the whole car jerks then rides smooth till the next time I switch back into drive it...

ill assume only occurrs when drive train is warmed up...cold ok?shift valves sticking in valve body and a very common problem with these vehicles equipped with 5 speed auto trans.check fluid color.brown is normal on these units....black is bad.if its still brown and not black replace the valve body to eliminate this concern.its alittle pricey but about a third of the cost of transaxle replacement.
