Should be the pulley underneath the power steering pulley. Loosen the nut, then back the bolt down the loosen the belt, tighten the bolt to tighten belt.

polarcycle is right. The power steering pulley is on the top right of the engine. On the pulley just below the power steering pulley, loosen the center bolt. Behind the plate that the power steering pulley is mounted to, there is a 7" bolt that is at a 45 degree angle, loosen that bolt to release tension. It took me a bit to find the 7" bolt, so hopefully this helps.

How to put a serpentine pulley back on

if it is a v8, the tensioner is on the passenger side, and it you need a ratchet and socket to turn it clockwise. Put the belt around the pulleys like the picture. WHy did the belt come off? If the tensioner pully came off, its usually jsut one bolt that holds it on ab032765-7437-4262-9c08-0abc6eec7c6e.jpg

How do i replace serpentine belt on 1997 jeep wrangler

Adjustment is made by loosening the power steering pump. There is a transverse long bolt (jack bolt) right under the pump that is used for adjustment.

Change serpantine belt

The easiest way to change a serpentine belt is to go and buy a serpentine belt tool (Around $15-$20 at the auto parts store.) It's a long, flat wrench with bits that will fit most belt tensioners. The idea is to move the belt tensioner down, to allow the belt to relax so you can pull it off.
Once you have the belt off, follow the serpentine belt installation diagram on a sticker, located under the hood. Then, while pushing down on the belt tensioner, slip the belt on to the last pully and then slowly bring the tensioner back to tension. Double-check your belt routing with the belt diagram before starting your Grand Cherokee.

I hope this helps! :)

Need to know how to adjust serpentine belt, please show diagram. 6 cyl engine.

Really don't need a diagram. Loosen the slide bolts on the power steering pump. loosen or tighten the pump by turning the jack screw (long transverse bolt) under the pump. Once the belt is tightened up, lock down the slide bolts and you are finished.

Can not get the serpentine belt loose or off my 98 jeep wrangler???

Look for the belt tensioner. On some models, all that is required is to use a socket and ratchet to lift the tensioner. SInce your vehicle is a 98 model, the tensioner should be an automatic type that just lifts up. If that is the case, then lift up the tensioner to remove and to replace the belt.

Sounds like something in the engine "froze" or stuck Unhook the battery and try turning the engine with a wrench/rachet both ways. Check the timing belt, if broken the pistons will come up and hit the valves then stop everything from turning. Is one of the pullies stuck? Take off the serpentine belt and check all pullies to see if they turn.

i use a 1/2 inch leverage bar .there is a hole in the tension pully(usually the top pully) put the end of the bar in the slot and pull. you will have to hold the tension on it with the bar while you remove the belt.
