the red light is telling potential thieves that the car is immobilsed(dead) without the right key.....

This is the immobilizer system, (anti theft) just means that your alarm is either set, or going off. if your alarm is going off, you may not be able to start your car. Hope this helps

The flashing red light that looks like a car is the "Security Indicator". This flashes when the vehicle is switched off, to alert potential theives that the 4Runner has an Anti-Theft system installed. Do not worry about it, the flashing is quite normal, and the bulb is really a Diode, and it will not drain the battery.
