  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

there is no way that brake fluid can be mixed with the engine oil unless directly poured into oil filler cap

Well If you did happen to get Brake fluid in your Engine some how. The gaskets you would need would be the valve cover gasket, head gasket,Header gasket, Waterpump gasked, Front and rear main seals, and Thermostat gasket.

Oil leak on back driver side motor in a 1994 dodge caravan

Place a piece of white paper/cardboard on the ground below where the leak is coming from soon after the engine is turned off. This should help you locate where exactly the oil is dripping from, and should help identify what is leaking. If the oil is black/brown/gold, it's probably engine oil. If it's reddish/brown, it's probably transmission fluid. If it's clear, it may be brake fluid or power steering fluid (from the rack/pinion). Check the fluid levels for whatever you determine it may be. If it's engine oil, you may have leaking valve cover gaskets or a leaking rear seal on the engine. If it's transmission fluid, you may have bad transmission cooler lines or leaking from axle seals. Check the master cylinder and brake lines if it's brake fluid, and check the rack/pinion if it's power steering fluid.

How do i change the head gaskets without taking the motor out of the vehicle?

Peter,
Head gaskets are often changed without removing the entire engine from the car. Not sure about the "adding fluid to rad" note - does this mean you are losing coolant and suspect a blown head gasket?

Severe oil leak

It could be a bad oil pressure sending unit, valve cover gasket, timing chain cover gasket or oil pan gasket. If there's white smoke coming out of the exhaust it could have a blown head gasket but it's not a common problem with that engine.

Oil leak under 1997 Pontiac sunfire convertible engine needs work

Most likely you oil leak is coming from your main seal . They wear out and get hard and brittle you could also have valve gaskets leaking and the oil is running down the engine and onto the floor.

Losing antifreeze alot just replaced thermostat water pump overflow resevoir and had it in the garage to replace the intake gaskets still losing fluid not in oil and head gasket was checked and is ok

Spread out cardboard or paper underneath and run for a while. Need to determine if/where there is a leak-radiatot, hoses, or engine.. No leak means has to be going into fuel somehow. Have someone follow you, coast and floor it a few times. If they see steam you'll know for sure you have a serious problem.

2006 subaru forester burning oil

never-- I repeat never --use a used car dealer to do repairs on your car
The people employed are seldom qualified mechanics and they only know how to "bodgie" jobs just to get the car ready for a sale
oil will not leak from a head if the engine is running well , but oil will leak from faulty rocker cover gaskets
from your description, I suspect that when the car went in for the head gaskets a clapped out motor was fitted instead ( check engine numbers on the papers )
If you need a motor , there are plenty of good engines from japanese
engine importers
But at best do not have anything to do with that shop as the engine rebuild could be changing the engine back for your original motor

What Is Recommended At 90000 Mile Tune Up For Chrysler Town and Country

At this interval it would be a good idea to check your drive belts, coolant hoses, motor mounts, suspension bushings, check for any motor oil leaks which could occur from any leaking gaskets. It is also a good idea to have change your spark plugs at this point as well. Normal spark plugs last around 50k miles before there electrodes start wearing out and losing their heat index value. They may still be functioning but at the cost of a lower grade spark and less than optimal fuel economy. If you've never replaced your power steering, brake, and transmission fluid and filter now would be a good time. I'd recommend replacing with synthetic grade fluids. I'd also recommend changing your motor oil on any vehicle every 2500-3k miles and adding a quality motor oil like castrol or valvoline, I personally use and recommend stp oil treatment, 1 bottle added at every oil change as well as marvel mystery oil in both my motor oil and added to my gas tank, this is remarkable stuff which keeps the internal components of your engine and fuel injection system clear of residual build ups. Be sure to also check and replace if necessary your air filter as well. good luck and hope it lasts another 90k miles for you

Ok, check the head gaskets for damage and the valve cover gaskets as well. replace any gaskets that are visibly worn. check the oil pressure switch as well. this is a leak spot.
