SOURCE: looking for 1996 ford mustang wiring diagram for stereo

things to consider:
Does it have a factory amplifier?
Is the factory harness still present?
Does it still have the speakers present?

You are going to only have a certain amount of wires... If the factory harness is still there you can simply purchase an aftermarket or just look at one in a local store on what wires are what.

you would have your:
gray and gray w/ black
purple and purple w/ black
green and green w/ black
white and white w/ black
these are normally used as an after market clip on harness for that factory wiring. (left front, right front, left rear, right rear)

Obviously your going to have the constant (yellow), ignition (red) and the ground (Black);
so the others would be either a remote (amp or power antenna) usually white with blue strip and dimmer normally orange for the after market harness, and the others will be the speakers.

What you COULD try is using a 9v battery and picking up the wires that are solid and striped and touching them to the 9v battery.

When you find the two that make that speaker make a popping sound you have found that speaker.
Once you have found the speaker that pops, you should be able to take it out and look at the color of the wires to make sure you will have the pos and neg for each speaker correctly set.

You dont want some speakers being in phase while other are out of phase. if so the sound wont be right.

SOURCE: Looking for a wiring diagram for a 2006 Ford Expedition

7way- black is 12volt (power), brown, running lights, yellow is left turn signal and stop light, green is right turn signal and stop light, white is ground, blue is brakes, and orange is aux power (can be back up lights, if trailer equipped w/ them). 6way is the same, minus orange wire. I have run into some variations to the above color codes (brown, yellow and green only-sometimes these 3 are different than stated, but only mixed as that group, as to what they control- example would be green is running lights, brown and yellow are turn signal and stop lights, the others should be as stated), if you have any trouble with things not working properly, it may be due to these variations, although the above are pretty standard. If you have an ohm meter you can check as you go (check for power at black wire- should be constant 12v, turn on turn signal and check for power-it will fluctuate from approx. 12 volts to 0 volts as the signal power pulses in the wire) hit the brakes, blue wire should show power, etc. Let me know if you need more help as you go.

SOURCE: can't find the amp in my ford explorer

The amp should be located cargo area on the drivers side. You will need to remove the panel to get to it.

wires for speakers are paired and smaller wires. if you touch the ends of the wires to a aa battery the speaker hooked to them will buzz and this does not damage the speaker

Bose amp in a 1999 yukon denali

To isolate what speaker is what set of wires, I always use a AA 1.5V battery and touch one end of each set of wires on each end of the battery, and you'll hear a crackle from the speaker they belong to, then I label it. Can use AA,AAA,A,C,D battery doesn't matter as long as 1.5v. Don't know if that's what you were looking for or not. Old trick from years ago.

Replaced factory radio with aftermarket and cant find aftermarket wiring stero plug

Get a AA battery, solder a wire ti each end. This is called a "popper"
Hold one wire of the AA on one speaker wire. Tap the other AA wire to the other speaker wire. The speaker will make a "popping" noise. Mark the wire as to the location, and so on. To determine polarity (- or +) you must be able to see the speaker. If it jumps UP when you "pop" it, look at the polarity of the AA battery.
That is the proper polarity of the wires. If it sucks IN, when you "pop" it........you're backwards. If this is over you're head......$30 @ a stereo store and it's over!.....Have fun.
