Possible starter failure if the engine doesn't crank. You can try tapping on the starter motor using a blunt object while turning the key to see if it starts. If it starts, suspect a defective starter motor. If it is a manual transmission, you can push start it in gear

Testimonial: "We try the starter, it turns motor over. But it don't fire"

    Check for broken/jumped timing belt

    Could be the crank sensor also.

yes, tacho also runs off that sensor.
I trust you disconnected the battery before you pulled the starter?
If not you may have fried a module or 2 and possibly even the computer.

My car wont start but has Power

DOES YOUR CAR CRANKS OR IS COMPLETELY DEAD ONLY LIGHTS? IF IT CRANKS AND DOESN'T ENGINE RUN THEN IT IS EITHER THE ALARM ( IMMOBILIZER )SYSTEM ACTIVATED,OR THE IGNITION KEY FAILURE. IF YOU HAVE A SPARE IGNITION KEY TRY AGAIN ( THE KEY TO BE THE ONE WITH CHIP INSIDE ).IF IT IS COMPLETELY DEAD THEN YOU NEED THE ASSISTANCE OF A QUALIFIED PERSON TO DIS ACTIVATE THE ALARM AND CHECK ALSO YOUR SMART KEY AS WELL .

2002 Neon. Radio shut off, lights went off and heat shut off, and started idling bad. Eventually it staled. Put in a new battery and it started right up. Next day same thing. Is it the altenator or wiring...

sounds like the regulator is bad in the altenator. Start vehicle and disconnect negative cable from battery. If it stays running you have another problem. If it stalls out right away the altenator isnt working.

2002 pt cruiser. Just replace the battery a week ago and the cables, the car runs fine with the battery disconnected so it cant be the alternator. when you put the key in and turn it on without starting...

jonboy;
I had the same problem. Check the wire in the terminal on the starter. That terminal is not crimped well enough around the wire.
It is pretty hard to get to, but removing the air cleaner and battery helps. When the PT won't start, have someone get ready to turn the ignition switch to start, reach down the left side of the battery (facing it) And give those 2 red wires (about the size of a lead pencil) hard yank just after your helper turns to start. You'll pull them out of a snap in wire holder, (which you can put back later when it is repaired). This should put the wire to the starter in a bind thus letting it start. You may see some sparks as the contact is made, or if loose enough, pull the wire out of the terminal. If this happens, you found the problem. Hope this solves your problem.

I went to start my 2005 PT Cruiser and got a loud clicking sound and it won't turn over. Is it the starter?

probably not sounds like either a dead or weak battery or bad connections on the battery posts. first take battery cables loose clean terminals and hook back up hopefully then it will start. or use jumper cables and see if it will jump start. if it jump starts then you no its not starter.if it doesnt jump stsrt then clean posts and cable ends and try again. hope this helps. best of luck

2002 PT cruiser trying to start with no keys!

I would check your wire harness. The starter is close to where you would be working on the radiator. I have not had the pleasure to put one in but i know its a tight squeez in there.
