SOURCE: why does my engine light come on when i hook up to trailer?
Hello Rodney,.
This is a good one.. yet I hope to never cease to be amazed!! Not really sure, but perhaps the below will provide some answers or lead you in the right direction, if you haven't already ventured there yet...
Is there something new on this connection, like the connection itself?
Follow the wires to confirm the correct connection? Dealers carry schemata
at the parts department, typically they can make a print out for you.
This is the same trailer or does with all trailers? (may be mixed or short in the trailer wiring?
The interior of the connector has been examined for any crossed or otherwise shorted/ loose wiring?
silly as it may seem, what about the brakes on the trailer? All lights on the trailer working good with secure connections?
Let me know how you make out. Perhaps try another post here to see if the general public has any other response?
Hope this helps! Let me know how you make out, this one really has me wondering...
Best regards
Ck
Check coolant level or possibly a bad coolant level sensor. If either of these are at fault, it can cause the engine to shut down or run with reduced power to keep from damaging the engine. Had this problem with a 2005 Freightliner w/ Detroit engine. (bad coolant level sensor)
