I had this happen to my car after my mechanic said do not worry about oil light flashing intermittantly it is probably a sensor.
Now my car blows oil out the exhaust and is missing a cylinder or two and is hard to start and also lost power at about 20 km/h). I have done a ring or burnt out the rings which means a replacement engine ($3000 AUD) or replacement car is required in my situation. (too repair engine $6000 AUD which a different mechanic has told me they just do not bother repairing as labour is intensive and a reconditioned motor is cheaper)
(1) Check if oil is being blown out the exhaust pipe of your car when engine is cold. When engine is hot smoke with oil smell comes out. (burnt out rings)
(2) Check is Water is coming out the exhaust pipe of your car when engine is cold. When engine is hot steam comes out (blown head gasket possible if steam) (Cost estimate minimum $1500 AUD - depends on if head is warped or cracked)
(3) Check cooling water levels if running low all the time see (2)
(4) check engine has oil in it could be point (1) causing oil loss
(5) check all fan belts are working as designed and not broken
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) power relay
- ECM power relay harness is open or shorted
- ECM power relay circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty (ECM)
have the OBD codes read as this will pinpoint the faulty sensor/switch , this will save you time and money searching for the fault blind , keep me posted if you wish
it sounds like you have a bad ground. follow all your ground wires. should be one to the engine, body, and maybe frame. disconnect them and clean the surfaces with sand paper and reconnect
Sounds like an electrical issue maybe the plug from firewall to cab is loose or on computer is loose, sometimes those coonections or pins get loose,i had a new car with 200 miles on it and it went dead in heavy traffic, had to get towed to dealer they found loose connection!!!!With audible noise when happens tells me its wiring, check all connections and wires to connections make sure there not loose!!!Best of Luck to you!!!!!
the check engine light is flashing to alert you to the fact that the engine has a missfire in the ignition system, don't continue to drive this with the condition or u can overheat and damage the catalytic converter.
