Sounds like it is misfiring. Go to Autozone (or similar) and they will connect a scaner to your car's computer to read the DTCs (Diagnotic Trouble Codes) and print them out for you to know exactly what is going on. It is a free service.
code p0153 refers to heated oxygen sensor-1 bank 2 slow response/no activity detected===causes ---heating inoperative---wiring---oxygen sensor. code po133 refers to the same problem as 153 and states the oxygen sensor several times so I would be replacing that unit.
the tech is right.. the trouble codes do not tell you what is wrong with the car... they just give you a general area to look in which involves testing multiple components and sensors. if the tech quoted you for and hour diag time i would say that you should at least expext to spend somewhere in the 300$ area depending on part cost.
I am asuming your Kia is not under warranty, so I would start with your heat sensor, and your thermostat. You could have the wrong thermostat for the area you live in. You should really go to auto zone or some other part store that offers free diagnotic testing. The test they use is not nearly as good as the one the dealers use, but will usually pick up the majority of your sensors. Let me know how this goes, I can tell you much more if you can get that done. The only other thing I recamend is if your going to work on your own car buy a Chilton. Not a Haines a Chilton, these are very easy to read and designed for the novis to understand. It will tell you where everything is and how to fix it.
Your battery is dead, that's why the starter is not starting the engine. Install a new battery or jump the car, if it still doesn't run, lpease repose problem with more details of the status.
thanks
