hot engine or cold or both??????????
and #1 all time question on topic, can you prevent the stall with a fast acting right foot.. A KEY CHECK and FACT !
Is it totally intermittent, and runs perfect other times,,,, gee, just a hint here.....???????? if yes, #2 below is probably ok.
can be lots of things, that cause stalls (over 50), not just the fuel pump.
we check fuel pressure if at spec. then i forget that. (easy huh?)
let me make a list . (works on all gas cars)
- lost 12vdc power to EFI system (dash lamps go dead?) loose fuse? dead battery, battery lugs filty, etc.
- bad engine compression , can happen hot,
- lost spark , ever give it a 60k mile tuneup? test spark using SOP ways and means, google it.
- bad fueling (note how its last as you can NOT burn fuel with above bad. period. We learn to read spark plug tips for clues.
- bad fueling too much is flooding or starving.
- EGR valve stuck open will stall any engine , or near stall.
- there are up to 50 causes but the above MACRO , covers most.
ever think to use a scan tool and scan it for errors at the stall.
a scan tool can be had for $9 buck.s
or rent one, or barrow one, many auto stores lend them.
in the hope you will start buying parts like crazy, lacking and FSM
and the reading these tests. in said manual.
