Engine hesatation. engine stalls. engine idles very ruffly. engine has no pick up.

The 4.0 V6 can have injector problems and not be running on all cyclinders. You can pull one plug wire or injector connector one at a time witht hte engine running and see which cyclinders aren't running. The 4 cyclinder has two coils and one of them can stop working and it'll still run but lose alot of power pulling one plug wire off the coil pack and seeing the spark with it running they shoul all spark so if you find one the does'nt even though other wires are firing in the coil pack you have to repalace the whole thing to get it to work right. It this information does'nt help you or you check and find more troble add a comment and i'll help you somemore. I really need to know what engine you have and what country your in as these cars are built a litttle differently depending on the country they were built for.

Set for three years and it starts but wacks power and idles ruffly

First iI would do a complete tune up (wires, plugs, air, fuelfilters, pcv valve etc)then i would put some fuel treatment in the tank to absorb any water that may be there from the old gas this should solve your problem or atleast greatly improve it.

Security light is on and the key can turn the iginition on however the engine wont turn over. Is there a way to reset the security so the car can start and be driven to a repair shop.

disconect the possitive wire on your battery, reconect then try to start the car three times....on the third try leave the key in the on possition for 20 to 30 minutes then start it up. engine will run ruffly and want to stall just keep giving it gas lightly and drive it to shop.

My 1999 grand prix stalls and dies at stops.

My Pontiac Grand Prix is also a 99, it has 216,+ thousand miles on it, it runs great, idles good, I need to replace the oxygen sensor tho as it shuts off on me while driving or sometimes coming to a stop. You might try checking the fuel filter and pump as well.

82 22-R toyota truck automatic runs fine idles fine then for no reason will not idle when stopped. I have to give it gas to keep running but runs rough. New plugs, dist. cap, wires, & rotory button....

I would suggest also replacing all O2 sensors, PCV valve, air filter, fuel filter.. Just might clear it up.. Not expensive and if issue continues - you will have ruled all that out as a cause..

Have a nice day !
