The test fails when the powertrain control module (PCM) does not receive a valid ignition diagnostic monitor (IDM) pulse signal from the ignition module (integrated in the PCM). Possible Causes:

What make , model an year vehicle ? Is it coil on plug ignition system or dis ignition . Did you test for battery voltage at the coil or coils ? Is the powertrain control module controlling the coils ? Does it have a ignition control module ? For what? No spark? If yes, it could be the igniter, or the ignition coil. If you have a test light or a voltmeter, check for power on the primary wire to the coil (on the + terminal at the coil) with the key ON. You should have power to the coil with ignition on. If you do, take both the coil and the igniter to a parts store for a free test of both of them. The coil can be tested with a volt-ohm meter. The igniter can be tested, just like any ignition control module, on a special machine they use to check if it passes or fails. They do it for free in the hope that you will buy one from them if it fails.

under coil there is the ignition module . it is the primary circuit to trigger the coil . the coil itself is the secondary circuit . you have to test ignition module first ,,,, remove coil test with led ignition module crank engine see if light is blinking. if yes coil defect ,,,if not module is defect
