My 1990 honda accord keeps backfiring after new spark plugs wires what do i need to do

sounds like you have the wrong firing order for the spark plugs.

The firing order is 1-3-4-2 going clockwise around the cap.

Need wire diagram for 99 durango firing order

FIRING ORDERS printpage_icon.gif

Before carrying out extensive tests to isolate poor running problems, check connections of spark plug wires. This is especially important if plugs, wires, distributor, etc., have been disturbed recently for service. Obviously, this is not applicable to the wireless 4.7L engine.

NOTE To avoid problems, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time to ease reinstallation.
For vehicles with an extensive service history, keep in mind that the distributor could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason, it is very important that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired.

Random cylinder miss firing. i changed coil packs

Have you changed the spark plugs. I recently changed mine in an expedition and tried using the E3 plugs which were about $56. I don't see any mpg difference but I can tell a difference in take off or during acceleration. My opinion is go back with a basic OEM or Bosch platinum. Also make sure that the COP is seated good on the plug. I would also recommend using an Di-electric grease to coat the inside of the COP. Hope this helps.

'83 Monte Carlo - Miss fire at idle/accel./driving

You can have car put on scope and it wll show any irregularities in the ignition system. It can also be dowithout any equipment. First, loosing ALL 8 spark plug wires, Now place the spark plug wires loosly back on, just secure enough to secure. You might need 2 people. Being the miss is more consistant in gear, APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE , put trans into drive and raise rpm's till miss is obvious. Remove ONE plug wire at a time, TILL THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN MISS. Thats the cylinder missing. Start with the spark plug, inspect, work back to wires and cap. An EXTREME result will be NO COMPRESSION.
