If you are talking about just plugging into the speed sensor yes. A VTEC and NON-VTEC are one and the same.

SOURCE: will a cylinder head from a 1996 honda civc 1.5l

The 1996 civic has a 1.6L b-16 engine. The only difference between the v-tec and non v-tec engine is the dual overhead cam i believe. The 93 civic also should have a b-16 engine in it. The cylinder head should work.......

SOURCE: swapped tranny, just need help with matching up wiring

It won't work. The shifting of the 4L60E is done by the computer in the 93. You might check with Summit or Jegs, I think they make a system to make it work.

SOURCE: Engine swap. color codes are different need wiring diagram

I've done several of these swaps that sound good at the time but end up being a Huge problem.I would start with the correct harness for the engine you've put in.It must include the under hood harness and what ever harness connects to it thru the firewall to the computer. You'll also need everything connected to the transmission to the computer including any thing connected with the brake and accelerator pedals.Next get the wiring diagrams from Jeep or buy the Chilton or Haynes manual, they have the diagrams included.Get the harnesses connected to the engine, trans and computer, then work backward towards hooking up everything else.I really feel your pain,I've put 20 year newer engines in older cars,V-8's where 6's were,an olds V-8 where a in-line six was(ford),Late model v-8 in a 59' Chevy. All these were simple compared to what your going thru. Please contact me if I can be of any help?

no, you will need to swap all the sensors and wiring harness from your old engine, you must have gotten a different year engine from the salvage, when swapping engine or transmissions al wise use your original sensors and wiring.

I have 02 accord coupe and it says VTEC and automatic!! How do I know if the VTEC is connected!

ok lets break this down
Vtec= Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control

if you look on the the motor on the left side youll see 2 things the distributor and the vtec solenoid.. the vtec solenoidif the smaller of the 2 thats it m8 theres 2 wires running from it .. all vtec does is lift the cams on a high 3rd lobe :) rides in the middle of the 2 smaller cam's on a automatic it should pop around 5.200 rpms on a honda ecu thats not tuned.. also a exaust helps or a intake that produce a higher tone thats unmistakeable when vtec hits.. its a beautiful thing hit me up with any! honda stuff ive done swaps to my 92 prelude si 2.2l vtec and many more so i know a honda engine and wireing like theback of my hand

I would like to replace my 2.3 prelude engine with another to fit

You can go on eBay and get an f22b DOHC (non-Vtec). They are about $300. less and have the same 160 HP. All you really need to do is swap your intake (because you want every vacuum hose going back to it's original position and the JDM fuel rail is on the wrong side compared to us in the US). You'll need your old engine's wiring harness because theirs are cut out and you don't know if you're getting a motor that was automatic or manual. Certainly keep your old engine right beside you as you do the swap because you'll need your distributor since you don't know if theirs had an external coil or internal coil. I've had 3 of these JDM motors in my racecar, it's the same power, just seems like the peak HP is later in the rev, like maybe less torque but more top end.
