I ran into this once when I changed a 2000 engine with a 2001 engine. The crankshaft gear for the timing belt was different. One had 2 ears for the crank angle sensor and one had 4. To check if this is the problem, pull all 4 sparkplugs, hook them to your plug wires, turn the engine over and see if you only have spark to 2 cylinders. If that's what you find then you will need to replace the crankshaft timing belt gear.
If that's not it, and you have spark to all 4 cyls., check your fuses. It could be a fuel pump fuse or ECM or an number of other fuses.
Good luck
Dave

Testimonial: "Okay Dave, that's interesting about the crank gear, the old engine has three. Anyways I tried what you suggested and there is no spark showing on any of the 4 plugs. Checked all fuses, will check again. Thanks for your help Dave. Steve"

My 99 dodge status 2.4 liter is not getting any

check for codes in the PCM just because the sensors are plugged in doesn`t mean they are working. check for power getting to the coil packs if this is good then check to see if the ground circuit is good and reference voltage is good at the coils. the PCM grounds the coil packs and monitors the reference voltage the power is supplied when the key is turned on. just some places to start

It turns but it wont start,it has gas and power

Pull off the coil ignition cable at the distributor and check for spark coming out of coil when cranking engine over. Use a heavy rag or glove to hold the wire 1/4 inch from a metal ground. Should see a strong blue spark when cranking to verify ignition is good. If no spark, check for battery voltage to coil on the coil primary. If you have current to the coil, suspect a bad coil, ignition module, crank position sensor, or cam position sensor, or pcm. The coil, ignition module, and sensors can be tested before replacing.

Do you know what Camshaft Actuator System is ?
The standard compression pressure is 1,400 kPa (203 psi).
The camshaft position (CMP) actuator system enables the powertrain control module (PCM) to change camshaft timing while the engine is running. The CMP actuator assembly (5) varies camshaft position in response to directional changes in oil pressure. The CMP actuator solenoid valve controls the oil pressure that is applied to advance or retard the camshaft. Modifying camshaft timing under changing engine demand provides better balance between the following performance concerns:
• Engine power output
• Fuel economy
• Lower tailpipe emissions
The CMP actuator solenoid valve (3) is controlled by the PCM. The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (4) and the CMP sensor (1) are used to monitor changes in camshaft position. The PCM uses information from the following sensors in order to calculate the desired camshaft position:
• The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
• The mass air flow (MAF) sensor
• The throttle position (TP) sensor
• The vehicle speed sensor (VSS)

This mite be something to look at , Is cam timing advanced or retarded . The ) CMP Actuator Assembly !

Im not getting fire on my 2001 jeep cherokee. coil rail is good and the cam position sensor is new and still no fire. im getting fuel but i think there is no fire. any idea as to what im overlooking? jeep...

If no spark at the plugs, engine cranking, did you check primary voltage at the coil assemble, dark green wire with orange tracer, engine cranking, use a test lite on the wire check for voltage. If no voltage that will lead back to asd relay. There are some fuses involved. I believe the computer has to see both the cam and crank sensor signals or it won't ground the asd relay. All I can do is make testing suggesting.

Audi 100s 1993 cranks doesn,t start, turns over no start. when it starts runs rough and stalls.

could very well be a faulty sensor, leaky vaccum hose, bad coil packs, needing of new fuel filter, spark plugs, wires.

Have you checked your fuel pressure to make sure it is good. You can do this with fuel pressure tester on the fuel rail.

Also check every cylinder for spark
If you don't have any spark, or very weak spark, you could have bad coil pack, module, or crank sensor.

You can remove one plug at a time, and place it back on plug wire, place it on top of engine block, have someone else turn motor over well you observe to see if there is spark.

Do you have a service or check engine light on? If so, I would have the engine codes read to pinpoint exact problem area.

Let me know if you have any questions or need further help
