You would need to use a Tailors Tape Measure(the cloth type)and go around all the pulleys except whatever you want to bypass.what ever measurement you come up with, that will be the length belt you now need in inches.then go to the parts house and ask them to look up the original belt for you vehicle so you can get the correct RIB(GROOVE)belt.then tell them the measurement you came up with to get the correct length belt.

What is the belt routing for 5.4 w/o ac? my truck has ac but compressor locked up. can I just by-pass the ac?

yes a shorter belt will be ok . mostly the alternator can be used for adjustment. you will have to measure the length with a cord and get a belt to match.
