Why is my fuel pump relay getting hot on my 2008 cadillac dts???

Check for a burned fusible link under the hood. If you have power at the fuel pump relay, you could have a bad ignition switch or bad oil pressure switch...accordianman

SOURCE: replace my fuel pump relay

The fewl pump relay is located in the bottom part of the fuse box under the hood. It is labeled on the cover where it is. It is one of the big black square s usually taped to the one above it. Cost is about fifteen bucks at advance auto.

replace fuel pump wires.they could be shorting out pump relay.

Can not locate fuel reset on 2007 cadillac dts
The 2007 Cadillac DTS does not have an inertia fuel reset switch. Instead, it has a fuel pump relay located in the rear fuse block under the back seat. What causes my fuel pump relay to get hot on my 2008 Cadillac dts, I already put a new fuel pump in it.
How hot ? not to be able to touch it ? Resistance (high resistance) causes heat. Lose connections, corrosions, wiring that has been open for a while. which caused green crusty (corrosion)Fuse / relay box has corrosion inside . Looking at wiring diagrams an using a volt ohmmeter to test electrical circuits is the way to a fix. You don't know that ,take it to a qualified repair shop.

I have a 2008 Cadillac DTS and its not getting enough fuel to keep it running what would cause this
A bad fuel pump, poor power or ground to the fuel pump, a bad MAF sensor, A bad coolant temp sensor, a large vacuum leak, an upstream O2 stuck rich, A plugged fuel filter, or dirty injectors to name a few.
