No, the immobilizer will defeat you, the theft security system. Bypassing or hot wiring the ignition switch-those days are over.

SOURCE: how do i find and bypass a neutral saftey switch

Then here's the way I would do it. The old transmission would have had some wires going to it. One was probably the reverse backup light. The other should have been the wire your looking for. You can take that wire and ground it to the chassis some where metel or if two wires operated it then cut the ends and splice them together completeing the circuit. The sensor you seek may have been on the other transmission where the linkage worked it. If not follow the linkage of old one and see if you can spot it. Let me knw how this helps, Good Luck, The Raz

SOURCE: 1997 s10 blazer no-start, possible ignition

If the car does nothing at all when you turn the key, the first thing to do is make sure the battery has sufficient voltage. Do this by turning on the headlights. They should be very bright. If the battery is good, check all connections between the battery and the starter, check for blown fuses. If everything checks out ok, then you need to make sure the starter is good. This can get a little tricky if the starter is hard to reach. With the car in park or neutral, parking brake on, turn the ignition key on, locate the starter. At the back of the starter, there will be some wires connected. The large red wire is coming from the battery. What you need to do is take the screwdriver and touch it to the connection and at the same time, make contact with the engine block. Avoid touching the threaded part of the connection. When you do this there will be some pretty good sparks, so don't be startled. As long as you hang on to the screwdriver by the plastic handle, it can't harm you. If the starter is good, it will engage and start the engine. The problem would be in the ignition switch, or more likely, in the starter relay in the main fuse box under the hood. If the starter doen't engage after a couple of tries, it should be removed and tested.

I need to bypass my igition switch

The problem you are experiencing is the security anti theft system. It will literally shut off you starter or injectors to prevent theft (or when it fails, like in your situation) You can bypass this feature and leave your existing ignition as is.

1997 Blazer, had key in forward position and battery gauge was good and dash lights on. Relays on firewall got moved and lost all power. How do I restore?

I would sugest the problem lies with the ignition switch or barrel if you can't move the key. I would 1st remove the switch from the barrel & turn with screwdriver to see if it operates.

Ignition switch

You wrote ignition switch/lock cylinder. Which part did you replace? The ignition switch or the ignition lock cylinder? The electrical ignition switch is what is bad.

Ignition lock cylinder keeps blowing

I don't think the key and tumbler is your problem at all. The switch is down on your steering column. It's either loose and sliding around when the rod pulls, or it's wrecked. They can cause all kinds of problems. Just drop your steering column and take a look.
