Sounds like a head gasket.. running rough from loss of compression in one cylinder and it's burning antifreeze causing the white smoke

What causes white smoke and rough idle ?

Hi,

Please check your engine and battery while your car is running. Please wear goggles as you don't want the contents of the smoke getting in your eyes. This will help you find what item or items are shaking and smoking in your car.

Thank you.

CEL blinking smoke coming from exhaust, rough idle

White smoke is indicative of burning coolant. Gray smoke is burning oil.

Have a compression test done which will often give an indication of evolving head gasket problems. If the coolant level is going down, and there's no obvious leak, its a head gasket.

2005 dodge cummings has real bad miss and blows white smoke at idle and when driving

You might want to watch your coolant level. Open your radiator, fill it to full, and start the truck. If bubbles form, you might have a broken head gasket. Also, check to see how your water seperator and fuel filter are looking. But it sounds kind of like a head gasket.

My 98 camry is idling rough at start up for 5 to 10 seconds. Then it runs fine, blowing a bit of white smoke but not much also loosing coolant out of the radiator no visible leaks.

You've got a blown head gasket, sounds small at this point, but it will get bigger. If you want to save this engine I would stop driving it.

Grand prix has a 3.1 6cyl. and 166000 mile, it blow white smoke

Sorry to inform you of the bad news but the white smoke is engine coolant burning off and the rough running condition is also associated with coolant leaking into the combustion chambers. This will be a head gasket repair, basically a head job where you will need to machine the heads down and install new gaskets from the heads up.Get back to me if you have any more questions, thanks and I hope I could help!!!

91 tempo run rough with white exhaust

If you are sure it is white smoke and the car overheats or looses water,The head gasket is bad.
Or It's valve seals or rings smokes (but the smoke would have a blueish tint)
