Doors do not alter in their openings unless the following has occurred
accident that alters the door opening shape or alters the door hinge position
badly worn hinges
people hanging off open doors or lastly
the sill panels ( rocker panels ) under the door that are part of the door opening and body strength have rusted away under the car allowing the door opening to alter and affect the doors closing properly

is there any way to fix this problem

  • Bill Boyd Oct 20, 2015

The only way to star a fix is to know exactly what has caused the problem
to that end I would have an accredited panel shop inspect the vehicle and see what they say would need fixing
if there is evident rust in the vehicle but the mechanics are good , a rust free undamaged body shell from the wreckers may be the answer ,, or if the car is basically a sad unit it may be more cost effective to junk it and get a later model
however be guided by the panel shop report and to be sure of their facts seek a second opinion from another shop

Why doesn't door close?

Check the large stud or pin that is in the door frame, this is called the NADER pin, it may be out of line with the latch. The latch may be sprung also.

How can I get gas filler door open on Infinity G 35, will not spring open when pushed to front of door and usually sprung open

the filler door spring has broken and will not open the door until you get the door open to replace it.

I have a 1996 chevy suburban and my passenger door isn't closing nor latching on how can I fix this?

Look at the latch, if it sprung closed when the door was open then the latch hits the bolt when it closes. If the latch is closed you can take a rod like object and press the latch back into place while someone pulls the door handle.

My isuzu trooper driver door won't unlock

If the door wouldn't close how did you close it to lock it and have to exit out the passage side door? Anyway if the door is open like you said and it's locked you can easily access the locking mechanism without removing the side panel. It's on the side of the door, not the inside and not the outside, but the thin strip visible only when you open the door. There will be two metal pieces that clasp together. You can separate them manually, this will unlock the door.

2004 Trailblazer - replaced blown speakers in back, now it won't start. Need to replace 2 more speakers - how can I do that without this happening again? Had to jump to get it started. How can...

This is just a guess but has happened to me before. The battery may be on the weak side and guessing you may have had the doors open for some time as well as the radio going for a while as well which could have pulled the battery down.

BA Falcon 'door open' light is on, can't lock

Hi I have the same problem on my BA XT Falcon
Strangely it only happens after it's rained on my car (usually overnight) I then notice that the drivers lock is up and will not lock again until a nice sunny day comes and I leave all doors wide open for hours and hours!! Then all of a sudden once closing all doors normally the little dash door light turns off, and I can again lock the doors
?
Since it rained all last night here, guess what? It happened again!
So I've checked everywhere and cleaned and you name it, but nothing, I'm positive that when a warm sunny day comes again though, all will be ok.
Most annoying issue ever.
Where is this tiny bit of water that's causing this?
And which door?? Can I just disconnect one door at a time? I don't know it's driving me crazy!!!!

97 Grand Prix sunroof off track

My 97 Grand Prix sunroof tracks are offset. My driver side track is in the closed position, and the passenger side track is in a half open position. When the problem happened I was closing the roof and heard a hard clicking. It stopped working from that moment on. The tracks werent offset as much as they are now before I took the glass off. When I removed the glass, the passenger side track sprung back about 6 inches. The motor works, but the tracks only move about a half inch forward and backwards. Its cable operated and my guess is that one side jumped the track or a gear or something. Anybody help?
