Is it a no crank - no start or a crank no start ? Do you know what I'm saying here ? When you turn the key to the start position does anything happen ? starter spins the engine over but does not start . etc..... Two different type problems !

It's getting flooded the carb catches flames and had to b put out
It has a carburetor not fuel injection ?
It's fuel injected
Caught fire where ,out of the throttle plate ? Do you smell fuel really bad ? Fuel pressure regulator leak . What engine does yours have ? 4.3 L vortec with CPI center port fuel injection system . Fuel injection under the intake manifold ? Have you checked for codes ?
Fixed it took distributor out put it on time started it happy camper
