Known issue for elantra lunging

My gf went to park at work and when she slowed down to turn so she can back into the space the vehicle lunged forward into a brick wall. she's ok but the vehicle was damaged she stated when she let off the gas the vehicle suddenly surged and lunged forward, she attempted to mash on the break but there was not enough space to stop before hitting the wall. also was surprised enough of an impact to leave a mark yet the air bags didn't deploy, the front bumper needs replacing and the hood as it was crumpled, any known issues of elantras doing this?

Unintended acceleration is a widely talked-of problem in Elantras and Santa Fes from 2011 on, however Hyundai has not issued any recall.

SOURCE: 2000 Hyundai Elantra, door glass of front driver side is not coming up

Most likely the window regulator cables got tangled. That happened on 3 of my windows, but the motor should be fine they usually last quite a while. Electronics are good, but the mechanical part sucks. There are 2 cables one pulls the window up while the other cable winds onto a pulley. The pulley has channels in it that the cables sometime jump out of and get derailed. Replacing the window reg can cost 50 if you're lucky to 100 at Autozone or checker, that doesn't include labor. You can do it yourself, but it's a pain in the ****. Give yourself around 3 hours to do it because you will spend a while getting the window threshold or whatever the hell it is that seals it back into place. Use WD-40 to lube it so that it will slide onto the window. You'll know what I mean if you do it yourself. At the dealer plan on 300 to get it done.

SOURCE: 2000 Hyundai Elantra Transmission problem

I don't know if I can help but as an owner of a Hyundai Elantra 2000 GLS with 205,000 miles and the original clutch and transmission I'll try and help!

I always start with the lowest cost solution first and avoid mechanics as much as possible!

Have you checked the trans fluid?
It should be changed every 30,000 miles!
Sometimes a Lucas Trans Fluid will cure - fix slippage!

Have you checked for a clutch adjustmet!
An adjustment can cure - fix slippage!

Are you a clutch rider with your foot always on the clutch?
If so you may have worn out the clutch!

How many miles to you have on your Hyundai Elantra 2000?

Hi,

please ensure that you've recently had your oil changed at a neary jiffy lube or similar establishment. You can ask them to also check your break fluid and check whether that or other fluids in your vehicle would be the cause of the lunging issues. And as for the clicking, there might be friction within your wheel. As the oil-change personal if you need to add some oil to any internal part of the steering wheel or whether your power steering fluid is the issue.

Thank you.

hi Lillian.
What fills the space when a lung is removed? An entire lobe is removed. The rest of the lung inflates to fill up the space. Pneumonectomy: ... The sac that contained the lung (pleural space) fills with fluid.

I have a 1997 dodge avenger es 2.5 liter here's

Check the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for any sign of gas being sucked into the line. A failed regulator will let extra gas get into the engine. If it's okay, have the fuel pressure checked. That's sure a lot of gas, way too much for the engine. Good luck.

90 honda accord lunges forward at 20-30 mph.

It is not the motor mounts causing the problem, although given the age of the vehicle they may need to be looked at. Your transmission is slipping. Check your fluid level, and check for discoloration and odor. Overfilling a transmission will also cause slipping. If you don't know when the filter and fluid were last changed, it is probably overdue. This is a really messy job that is worth paying $75-$100 to a reputable shop to let them handle. The bands will probably need to be adjusted too, which is why it is a good idea to take it to a shop. Some of them will bring the pan out to you to show you the sooty looking material at the bottom, which is perfectly normal. What to look for is large chunks of metal or clutch disc material. If you see either, start saving for a transmission rebuild. I am not sure what flashing lights and speed sensor you are talking about. Are the headlights or dash lights flickering, or is it the police car lights in your rear view mirror? If it is the first, check your connections, your alternator output, and have your battery tested. If it is the second, think of a convincing lie but be prepared to throw yourself on the mercy of the court.

TRANSMISSION QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD

Pull the trans dip stick and smell it. Does it smell burnt? Your tranny might have gone out. I had an Avenger that the tranny went out at about 60,000.
