check engine lights are a pain and unlucky there's no way to turn them off and pass inspection untill whatever the codes call for to be fix and jaguars are tough cars to work on and have expensive parts if you cant seems to get it fix i would suggest taking it to the dealer.
This is a 'limp home' safety device. For example If you ECU gets a signal from a knock sensor due to a miss-fire the ECU will restrict engine performance to prevent any lasting damage until the causative error as been corrected. Do a good visual check. Check plugs, leads, disconnect sensor plugs and reconnect them. If automatic ensure that your transmission fluid is at the correct level. You can top it up one pint at time via the transmission fluid dip stick tube. Always check the levels with engine running in 'park'.
If there is still restriction you will need the on board diagnostic report to read from the ECU. This will give you vital clues as to the cause of the 'restricted performance' measures being imposed.
I do not have my manual in front of me, but certain VIN numbers do not have the bluetooth installed in the car. I have a 2003 Jaguar X-Type and I have a phone button, but my VIN number was not in the range of jaguars that came equipped with the bluetooth. You can get a phone that has bluetooth and test to see if it finds a bluetooth device (your Car Phone Device).
Have you contacted jaguar to be sure the car is wired?
Just because there is a phone symbol on the stereo means nothing.
They all have that.
Go to Jaguars web site and email them with you cars VIN number and ask if the car has been prewired.
they will get back to you in about in 2 days and let you know.
If it has been prewired you can get it set up for a price, if not, you are out of luck.
I have a 55 plate 2.5 S Type. I bought it from a local Jag dealer, i had a few small problems but they sorted them out straight away. As they are not selling cars you will be able to get a good deal i would only use a Jag dealer ask for 1 or 2 years free servicing i got it. Dont buy a high milage vehicle it will cost you more in the long run. I love my car PS Get the highest spec you can ie SE plus.Hoped this helped.
check and clean your throttle body.also disconnect and reconnect the throttle connector.i am serious it might take care of it.
I love jaguars but 03 s type is not a good jaguar.
